President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday that he says will keep migrant families together during detention on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The president will not abandon his "zero tolerance" policy of criminally prosecuting all adults who cross U.S. borders illegally.
Earlier, he signaled he would sign a measure to stop his administration's splitting of migrant families.
"I'll be signing something in a little while that's going to do that," he told reporters during a White House event after saying he wanted families to be kept together. "I'll be doing something that's somewhat pre-emptive and ultimately will be matched by legislation I'm sure."
Trump added: "We're keeping families together, but we have to keep our borders strong. We will be overrun with crime and with people that should not be in our country."
The order is expected to allow families to be housed together even while adults in the family are being detained or prosecuted for crossing the U.S. border illegally or for seeking asylum at the border outside of a designated border entry point.

President Trump needs to call in the ambassadors from these Central American $h*tholes and tell them to turn off the spigot. Otherwise all foreign aid with be cut off and remittances will be heavily taxed.
Our system of government is incapable of dealing with this anymore. Even President Trump can barely keep his head above water on this issue. We are losing this battle inch by inch every day.

As to real parental rights, I am sure that they have already contemplated this before creating and signing the EO
What if we start using military judges to help push these asylum claims forward and to adjudicate the illegal entry claims. They could push those through pretty fast. Illegal entry, guilty. Request for deportation immediate.
