That would be the ultimate boondoggle. If he does that, they will know they can beat him down with pressure anytime he does something they don't like. Things will go right back to large numbers of people taking advantage of catch and release bringing children illegally across the border on dangerous journeys, abusing the asylum laws, and more child trafficking. This is exactly what the Democrats want by the way. They don't care about the consequences open borders have on kids such as those being trafficked, unaccompanied minors, smugglers, etc. They don't want to fix anything. They want status quo. Schumer is demanding Trump do this.
It would be an embarrassment for the White House which first of all has handled this poorly from a communications perspective. If this is your policy, you know it is going to get a reaction like this. You should have an A game communications department ready to set the narrative. Instead, Trump did not do a good job articulating it by just blaming the Democrats without explanation. The only person that explained it well was Neilson, but that was days too late when everyone from Trump to his surrogates should have been sticking to that explanation. Meanwhile, the communication's staff continues to allow the narrative to be out there that Trump put's kids in cages when he's using the same facilities that Obama used. No one has even bothered to put out comparison photos. Trump should have Tweeted them.
The best way to handle this - sign the Ted Cruz bill. Support it and vote on it. This will end the catch and release loophole, will add more judges, and keep the families together. I know they want comprehensive reform, but the Cruz Bill deals with a specific problem and can end this situation. It will end the bad PR with midterms coming up, and the kids will be happy. Work on everything else after.
Trump really needs to do an address to the nation free of media spin on the immigration crisis too.
A court will likely overturn it saying it violates Flores, and then they are right back to square one. The Cruz bill ends the Flores problem.
Watch the Democrats call Trump a dictator for daring to sign an Executive Order that overrides written law.

Schumer wants Trump to do an EO/EA, just so the Dems won’t have to vote on anything that would hurt them at the polls in November.
He could sign something like this:
They are given two options:
1. The situation remains the same as it is today.
2. They agree to go back to Mexico and take their kids with them.
Total Dubya move, except Dubya would have done it much sooner.
Send them all back as a group to mexico. No separation.
Or, just send them to europe.
Of course they will! Which is why they need to be ignored. The base (the ones who elected him) will stick with him on this.

I agree. The President needs to hold fast.
On the other hand, the President is the consummate dealmaker. If he can get a concession from the democrats, he can put illegal aliens in detainment with their claimed children. Sessions has already stated he would like to test their DNA which can be done with minimal intrusion using buccal swabs. Any illegal lying about their relation to children would not be allowed to ‘reunite’.
Other concessions are possible such as votes for funding the Wall, making Mexico pay for it by taxing remittances or tariffs.
Democrats plan B don’t take the bait.
If Trump cured cancer, the News Misleadia would lead with:
“THOUSANDS OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS OUT OF WORK BECAUSE OF RASH TRUMP MOVE”
Put them all on the same bus - save $$$, good business decision. ;)
It isn’t policy. It is law enacted by Congress. Trump can’t EO the law away.

Yes, I believe that Schumer’s suggestion is a trap. Signing an executive order will usurp Congress’ authority (which Congress is happy to have usurped), can be a violation of the authorities laid out in the Constitution, and leaves Trump with only two options: Catch and Release (reverting to the Obama policy) or simply making up law on his own...a terrible precedent that continues Obama’s practices.
We just get that much closer to a totalitarian system...not to mention I can see the Democrats turning on a dime and bringing up impeachment again over him violating the Constitution’s separation of powers. This is not a good idea.
It is the manufactured crisis that they came up with to end the news cycle on the North Korean deal which is easily a billion times more important than this nonsense. I do not know how effective a bunch of liberal morons frothing at the mouth really are at anything other than pure BS.
