ATLANTA (CBS/CNN) One good deed is turning into many, many more and a surreal US tour.

This inspired him to start the Raising Men Lawn Care Service, a foundation that not only mows lawns for those in need but also works to inspire young men and women to make a difference.

To defray the cost of his expenses, Smith said hes funded by donations, including those by lawnmower companies that donate equipment. He takes submissions to decide what lawns hell mow, both on his website and on social media.
He said its important to teach kids about service.

Is he being flown to Hawaii?
He should receive a cruise ship trip to Hawaii.
Nice...
There are plenty of guys that mow the lawns of single Moms for ‘free’. This guy didn’t think of something new.
Saw a segment on Fox News Friday night about this man.
It’s a very uplifting story about a young black man who began a lawn service when in college. He has enlisted hundreds of younger kids to join in mowing lawns for free for the elderly, et al. They earn different colors of T-shirts with logos of the activity for each level of the number of lawns they have mowed. Those that reach the 50 level receive a new lawnmower, donated by the dealers.
IMO, it helps to teach respect for those who need help and offers a pathway for the kids to earn money and perhaps become successful like Mr. Smith.
Just another story because the man is black. White man does this and the media would turn it into a story where white man makes slaves out of black youth to get his friends lawns mowed.
Thank you!
Such an encouragement!
At least, that's what they were called when I was growing up!
Regards,
Am I a bad person because I was thinking the exact same thing?
I mowed lawns in Phoenix when I was a kid around 12 years old. I got a contract with Prudential real estate to mow lawns for empty houses for sale. That went on for two years until my family moved to California. I learned about being an independent business man and carried that ethic the rest of my life. I RARELY see any kid nowadays cutting grass. Jose and his merry band of Brothers, cousins, uncles, nephews ,brother in-law and so on have stolen that opportunity from the youth. People would say that we live in a technological society and that kids shouldn’t be bothered with labor routines, child labor and so on. Sweating, getting dirty and calloused hands can clear the mind and hone the spirit.
“This guy didnt think of something new”....
Even though he was not the “first” to offer free labor, what this young man has been/is doing should be recognized and most importantly commended for. Young people “need” good examples of kindness instead of how to become a gangbanger.
Nine kids, six still at home. And none of them can mow?
Read the article. This guy is doing much more. He’s mentoring young people & giving them a work ethic. I was a little skeptical until I read the article. The photos of the kids & him with the person whose lawn they mowed..... wonderful!
Remember the squawking about how unsafe it was when Trump had a kid with a lawn care business mow the White House lawn
Parents today can’t risk having junior get hurt. Can’t let kids walk to the park or to school alone either. If you do, your neighbors will turn you in.
I’d commend all who provide service to others, not criticize them.
There are plenty of people who X
shovels others’ sidewalks
give money to charity
help little old ladies across the street
teach children to read
.....
Just because you’re not first doesn’t mean you’re not helping. One person can’t do it all alone.
Don’t be jealous. You get a pat on the back from me for all your charitable work, publicized or not.
