Robert De Niro apologizes to Canada, Justin Trudeau for Donald Trump

A day after Robert De Niro received a standing ovation at the Tony Awards for dissing President Trump, the actor was cheered again in Canada — when he apologized for the Commander in Chief’s “idiotic behavior.”

The “Casino” star’s comments came Monday during a groundbreaking for the high-end Japanese restaurant Nobu in Toronto.

“I just want to make a note of apology for the idiotic behavior of my president,” De Niro said to applause. “It’s a disgrace, and I apologize to [Canadian Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau, too, and the other people at the G-7. It’s disgusting.”

Over the weekend, Trump refused to sign a closing statement with leaders from the other Group of Seven countries while blasting Trudeau as “very dishonest and weak” for threatening tariffs on the US.

I turned that movie off after 15 minutes, I could not believe that he did that movie, and then there was “The Comedian”, it was just as bad. Bobby is off my watch list now. Although I watched “Casino” again the other night. I like Pesci, he is unreal, I sometimes think Pesci is a better actor than De Niro.

Gregory Peck could have played Travis Bickle and been better than De Niro.

Mire people watched Jeopardy than the Tony awards. There's a huge gap between how important celebrities view themselves and the way things are.

He doesn’t have to run for President, he us already ACTING like one. And ACTING is all he is ...an empty suit.

Agreed. Who cares what any actor has to say about anything...unless they’ve gotten their chops other ways.

Reagan, for example, had been active in conservative causes for quite a while, and then, of course, was elected Governor of California. I was living there at the time and I had mixed feelings about this, because he was the one responsible for “deinstitutionalizing” the mentally ill, and then said that when they got out they could get city jobs, such as playground monitors! These were people who went on to kill people, such as their own mothers, so Reagan was wrong on that one, but he was simply going with the left-wing flow (only the crazy are really sane because the crazy are rebelling against capitalism) and the rightwing “let’s save a dime and spend a dollar” insanity.

But Reagan did convince people, and he was an intelligent and witty and kind man, and very authentic. So even while I disagree with things that Reagan did, he was not “an actor” and not just a politician but a real human being. And that’s why he got elected.

Robert DeNiro? No way. Alec Baldwin - even less than no way.

For a supposed “tough guy”, De Niro sure comes across as an obsequious and servile punk.
