Supreme Court rules in favor of Ohio 'voter purge'
The Hill ^ | 06/11/18 | Lydia Wheeler

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld Ohio’s "use it or lose it" practice of cleaning up its voter rolls.

In a 5-4 decision, the court’s majority said the practice, known as the “supplemental process,” does not violate the National Voter Registration Act, which bar states from removing the names of people from the voter rolls for failing to vote.

The court's five conservative justices voted in the majority, with the court's four liberals dissenting.

Under the supplemental process, voters who have not voted in two years are flagged and sent a confirmation notice. Voters who then fail to respond to the notice and vote within the next two years are removed from the rolls.

The process is one of two methods state officials use to identify voters who are no longer eligible to vote due to a change of residence.

Don’t know why I remember this but as a kid growing up in NYS, I remember they would remove anyone who hadn’t voted in 4 years, no notice so far as I recall. Just outta here! (this is back in the 50s before NY got so bad)

“but Ohio’s is the most extreme.”

Shows the Hill’s bias. Could have used:

Rigorous

Strict

Fair

Effective

or numerous other adjectives.

How queer that Dems oppose it. Bet they have internal numbers to know how many voters really exist (haven’t died or moved away).

You don’t want to spend money and time trying to reach voters who don’t actually exist.

You do want those names to remain on the ballot if you can count on the dead and gone voting for you ‘anyway’.

Voter purging techniques need to be more precise, more stringent and better targeted to eliminate those who have not voted within the last year.

That is one process that will go a long ways toward the process of cleaning
up the voter role.

Another would be to send out a new voter registration card every two years.
Those that are returned because the voter is no longer at that address should
be put into a process of checking for removal and be removed if they in fact
don’t live were they say they do.

?Voters who then fail to respond to the notice and vote within the next two years are removed from the rolls.?

Should that read “Voters who then fail to respond to the notice and FAIL TO vote within the next two years are removed from the rolls.”

These days in NYS you need more ID to get a hunting and/or fishing license than you do to vote.

So, help me out here?

In the past, you could create fake voters right? Then, since they were established, a person or org could then vote for that fake person, or dead person, or whatever?

So, if a fake voter hasn’t been used for a couple years, it’s off the system and the cheaters would need to create a new fake voter?

"How queer that Dems oppose it."

Not really.

The Democrats are the only party that consistently and vociferously opposes any measure that reduces the potential for voter fraud and improves the integrity of the election process.

Gee...I wonder why that would be.

Eliminate Voter Fraud and you will witness the demise of the “democRAT” Party. Without Voter Fraud, the Communists will only be a very small, regional entity.

Further reading about the process, it takes a total of six year absence before the purge. Two years then notice, and 4 years later non-responsive non-active voter is purged. That’s more than enough time.

Good, now apply nationally.

Only Federal District Judges can issue opinions binding the entire Nation silly.

One can assume that any purge of vote registrations would be a detriment to Dem election totals. Which is always a good thing.

This wouldn’t work in Illinois because the Democrat poll workers will vote for you if you don’t show up. That’s why whenever I mention sending out simple “Thank You for Voting” cards after the elections, Democrats in this state cry, “no way, that’s just a waste of money”.

The reality is, that a lot of people would be getting those cards who never made it to the polling place.
