Dont laugh too hard but this has been a terrible week for the renewable energy dream.
Across the world solar energy share prices have crashed. This was caused by a sudden and unexpected decision by China, the worlds biggest solar manufacturer and user, to rein in subsidies.
(Excerpt) Read more at breitbart.com ...
Solar is like Democrats. Can’t survive on an even playing field so they lie and cheat with subsidies and propaganda.
When you take TAXPAYER monies away the massive solar and wind projects would never have been done . Another fleecing (outright organized theft) by BOTH rinos and demoncrats of our treasuries . Need I bother to reiterate the actual process of manufacturing both panels and turbines alone outweigh the energy they could ever produce in the lifetime of these ecological disasters ? Groupthink , braindead collegepuke individuals have delivered this to the meek electorate . I screamed at all in D.C. and state level proponents of these unicorn plans and was brushed off . The sad thing is I find no pleasure in being correct after all the damage that has been done let alone the waste of cash .
Now if they could just do something about ethanol.
Chinese solar panels are no good, in my experience!
And making them produces a LOT of nasty stuff.
God bless whoever comes up with solar and wind power that is effective and efficient. Until then taxpayers are just getting fleeced by an industry that puts out a nonviable product.
Just for the record...... A german Ibelieve company spent $5 billion building a tremendously large manufacturing plant in Charleston Tennessee near the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant to make the silicon materials for among other things solar panels. It took many years and untold manhours to build.
It is closed. The manufacturing technology just didn’t work
Hey, it's not all bad stuff. I bought a solar-powered plastic cat that wags its arm, works great in the sunlight. Solar is good for novelty effects.
For powering my home and tools, I will never consider using solar. Not enough wattage for the effort and cost. And Chinese solar is not good enough yet.

How do you know if you haven’t tried it?
I have 11.7 KW of PV on my roof, it supplies all my power and then some.
It was expensive, but it also pays for itself after several years. While it is paying for itself I have power when the rest of the neighborhood has none after storms.
The equipment is not complicated, has a reputation for lasting decades and it just works. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
That's what my gas-powered generator is for, got it after a storm that knocked out my power for a week. And it wasn't expensive.
Yes.
But remember, the environmentalists HAD to do SOMETHING!
Whoops, I'm laughing again.
I first became involved in depth in solar energy in the early 70s, officially, in our city's solar energy Committee. After 20 years of monthly meetings, we concluded it wasn't ready for prime time.
It still isn't.
Like ignorance, gullibility and hydrogen, the scam will last forever.
The current scam works like this...
Just invest in solar panels, and you can enjoy free electricity forever!
As Johnathan Gruber so clearly stated (in the Obamacare debacle context,) "we must rely (and exploit) the ignorance of both the American voter and the Congress..."
the actual investment to run a household entirely on solar power is between $25,000 and $45,000, including principal, interest, maintenance and the expensive switching equipment between a household and the energy providing company.
Maintenance and repairs are NEVER mentioned.
Compromising existing mortgage commitments (and liens) are never mentioned.
Wind power experience and bankruptcies among all the European pollyana countries who rushed into enormous infrastructures which failed to deliver is also never discussed.
Good luck to the "entertainment millionaires" and the gullible!

Thanks rktman.
Vague... vague... vague...
But that's understandable, because not even rich suckers enjoy being "taken."
What's "expensive?" Does your amortization figures (or cash payment) allow for interest paid? Over what time?
Smug generalities won't cut it among informed citizens.
What does "...pays for itself after several years." mean? Including interest paid or not earned? What is 'several years?" 45??
Time to fess up."
This isn't Barbra Streisand, is it?
Add to that, solar under Obama was a massive pay to play. Then you have fiascos like Solyndra which starts to look like a money laundering operation. Get the government grant, build a Potemkin Village factory, press release, big contribution to the DNC (hmmm, would that be with the grant money?), and then file bankruptcy. Rinse, repeat.
Solar is just like global warming a scam that made these criminals rich
Do you live in a place like Arizona that has no snow to cover the panels? If so then it may make a little more sense than places that have snow. Is your rooftop unobstructed by hills or trees? That helps a lot too. These storms you speak of, might there be things flying around that might break panels or high winds that might tear them off your roof? Your roofing material...is it slate? Standard roofing shingles degrade from lack of air circulation where they are located under the panels. Many home insurance companies wont cover roof damage caused by that. Give us some detail!
