The State of Lincoln
In political terms, the state of Illinois is a vassal of the seeping carbuncle of corruption, moonbattery, and political dysfunction that launched the career of Barack Obama. No matter how the regular Americans in the rest of the state might vote, the entrenched leftists in Chicago will impose their will. This disenfranchises the millions who do not live in Cook County, depriving them of self-determination and forcing them to go down with a sinking ship. Since kicking Chicago out of the state isnt practical, Illinoisans have settled on the next best option. They want to break off and form their own state the State of Lincoln:
The people of the State of Lincoln are, for the most part, a different people from the people of Chicago, which dominates the General Assembly in the state capital of Springfield. We have two different cultures and two different values systems. In addition, for over half a century, Cook County (and Chicago in particular) padded government payrolls with unnecessary public employees who were given their jobs strictly as a reward for their work for one political party around election time. As a consequence, the pension plans of the state are deeply in debt, affecting not just the pensioners from Cook County, but also those of the entire state. The state itself admits that it is $130 billion in debt, but Moodys Investors Service says it is actually $250 billion in debt. In response to this, plus other financial commitments, the General Assembly increased the state income tax by one-third, starting in July of 2017; yet the states budget remains unbalanced even with this tax hike. Adding insult to injury, Chicago has now foisted sanctuary state status upon Illinois, the home of Abe Lincoln, thereby setting state law in open defiance of federal authority.
We, the people of the State of Lincoln have had enough. We believe in low taxes and limited government. We want our own government and our own laws. We want our own state constitution and our own General Assembly. And we want our own voice in the U.S. Senate and in the Electoral College, which Chicago deprives us of now. It is time for Chicago, Springfield, and Washington to recognize us for what we are: a separate people, entitled to self-determination and to our own, separate state.
Sounds reasonable. Horrifying as it is to think of the city that elects Mayor Rahm Emanuel getting two Senators, thats the de facto state of affairs now anyway.
I’m all for it. Without Cook & DuPage Counties, Illinois might even be a nice place to live.
Liberalism is a mental disease. Chicagoans are the sickest. Big government is the state religion. Corruption runs the state governors make the license plates.
This person is delusional if they think things will change.
ROTFLMFAO!!!
It's true.
30 years ago Cook County had Republicans they have all left. I left in 2000.
Don’t associate Dupage County with Cook County. We here in Dupage County want nothing to do with Cook County. Unfortunately, many Cook County reprobates have their eye on Dupage County.
I'm very familiar with both Counties. Cook is a hotbed of leftists. DuPage is a hotbed of big government rino swamp dwellers.
The Dupage County courthouse complex is a temple to big government, and headquarters of a very corrupt county government.
Dupage is almost as bad as Cook, if you can't see that you're deluding yourself.
I love Illinois. I hate what Chicago and the gang in Springfield have done to it. I lived in Illinois my entire life until five years ago when I escaped to Indiana. I lived in the Chicago metro area for 30 years. The writer of this is piece is correct. The Chicago metro area and downstate Illinois are two different worlds, culturally and politically. Chicago has never really felt like home to me. The smaller cities and small towns and rural areas —those are home. It’s too bad that decent, hardworking people have had their lives so negatively impacted by that political pustule on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Bump
Didnt DuPage vote overwhelmingly for Hillary?
Hillary won DuPage County by 14%
There is some truth to this “division”, but also true is that there are almost countless downstate IL local governments and pension plans in simply horrible financial shape. Not all of that (esp. w/ regard to the pension plans) can be blamed on “Chicago”. They mostly did it to themselves.
The rot goes deep and like the cosa nostra the tentacles go far and wide and are very very inclusive
It introduced the virus of "one man, one vote."
Ping to #14.
Interesting. I need to look into this more.
As I said in my original post, Cook County reprobates have their eyes on Dupage County, and are starting to move into it. But, I don’t think it was an “overwhelming” vote for Herself, the Cold and Joyless.
I’ve lived in Dupage County for almost 30 years, and it is nowhere near to being as bad as Cook County; it’s not even close.
How do you define “bad”? When did you leave, why?
Again, how do you define "bad"?
