I’m all for it. Without Cook & DuPage Counties, Illinois might even be a nice place to live.

Liberalism is a mental disease. Chicagoans are the sickest. Big government is the state religion. Corruption runs the state — governors make the license plates.

This person is delusional if they think things will change.

I love Illinois. I hate what Chicago and the gang in Springfield have done to it. I lived in Illinois my entire life until five years ago when I escaped to Indiana. I lived in the Chicago metro area for 30 years. The writer of this is piece is correct. The Chicago metro area and downstate Illinois are two different worlds, culturally and politically. Chicago has never really felt like home to me. The smaller cities and small towns and rural areas —those are home. It’s too bad that decent, hardworking people have had their lives so negatively impacted by that political pustule on the shores of Lake Michigan.

There is some truth to this “division”, but also true is that there are almost countless downstate IL local governments and pension plans in simply horrible financial shape. Not all of that (esp. w/ regard to the pension plans) can be blamed on “Chicago”. They mostly did it to themselves.

We can thank Scotus’ 1964 Reynolds v. Sims decision.

It introduced the virus of "one man, one vote."

If Your State is a Mess.
