DOJ Reneges Commitment to Provide Trump Russia Docs to Congress

The Department of Justice reneged on a commitment to provide access to documents they promised to congressional lawmakers by Thursday morning. Instead, DOJ issued a press release after midnight suggesting they will only meet with a group of select lawmakers to discuss the matter on the same day the North Korea summit opens in Singapore, according to numerous sources and a DOJ statement.

Moreover, the Justice Department also issued new stipulations for briefing congressional members and limited the meeting with only the Gang of Eight, which is comprised of eight leaders within Congress who are briefed on classified intelligence matters.

“Jeff Sessions is worthless putz.”

Might as well still have Lynch and Comey running things.

"I agree that this is unacceptable, and for Congress to allow it to continue just encourages more of the behavior, less cooperation, less expectation of integrity in the process."

I agree that it is unacceptable, but the reneging is a good thing. The more times they pull this stuff, the more credibility they lose.

It is becoming more obvious with every passing day. Can you imagine accepting AG job with the most critical investigation coming up and recusing himself within hours of being confirmed?

You gotta remember, the Trump agenda (immigration, fair trade, gov’t healthcare) is directly opposite of the Bushes, Reagan and all other prominent republicans. They do not want him to succeed because it destroys their brand.

“....today’s indictment of a Senate staffer for leaking information to the media actually reinforces the DOJ’s stance”

This abject stonewalling from the DOJ is just not consistent with the behavior of bad guys trying to outrun the keystone cops - scattering furniture and trash barrels behind them to trip up the posse - head faking one way but slipping through a back alley in the other direction.

No, this behavior is looking more and more like the DOJ has a legitimate justification for not sharing at this time - they are behaving like they know they have an iron clad “get out of jail free” card.

This whole thing reminds me of the movies where the hero cops (Nunes, Meadows, Jordan) track the killers down and go in for the bust, only to find they nearly ruined eighteen months of undercover work designed to lure in the big fish.

I can’t even imagine what they must be hiding.

Interestingly, today’s indictment of a Senate staffer for leaking information to the media actually reinforces the DOJ’s stance here.

No it doesn't.

Yes, it does.

You're going to come here on FR and tell me with a straight face that turning over documents with sensitive and/or damaging information to a Congressional body where almost half the members are Democrats is a good idea?

Go back and remember what happened with Diane Feinstein and the closed-door Steele dossier testimony about six months ago.

I agree with you. Not sure what it means, but it seems like Nunes has been quiet as of late.

This isn't a movie, this is real life.

Sessions is recused. Rosenstein is in charge. Rosenstein is as much Deep State as is Adam Shiff on the committee. Rosenstein isn't protecting us from Adam Shiff, he is partnering with Adam Shiff to obstruct justice.

Congress has the Constitutional authority to oversee the DOJ. Rosenstein should release the docs.

DOJ wants a briefing so they can selectively leak the bad news and then make appear congress can’t be trusted.

You're going to come here on FR and tell me with a straight face that Rod Rosenstein isn't Deep State and isn't on the same side as Adam Shiff?

That's why it's important for the unredacted documents to be revealed to Congress and to the general public at the same time.

Let's put on our thinking caps for a moment, folks. Based on what we know now, and the circumstances as they stand now, what is the best way this could possibly happen?

HINT: Having the DOJ turn the documents over to Congress is one of the worst ways this could unfold.

It's you who needs to put your "thinking cap" on.

The documents were created by the Deep State. They were created by Comey's FBI and Lynch's DOJ. And Deep State Rosenstein still controls the documents. They already know what's in them. Giving the documents to Congress won't give the bad guys any more information than they already have.

Giving the documents to Congress, gives information about the Deep State to the number of folks on the committees who are the good guys.

And Congress has the Constitutional authority to get the documents.

Congress already knows what's in them, too. The only reason to ask for them is to: (1) make them public, or (2) hide them from the public while giving members of Congress the ability to make up sh!t about what's in them without making them public.

Does this seem like sound logic?

If the DOJ can do as it pleases without external control, you have to ask, “Was haben wir hier, die Geheimstaatspolizei?”

“This isn’t a movie, this is real life.”

Really? I didn’t know that... /s

You Sessions haters can mock all you want - but there’s good stuff happening at the DOJ. Sessions’ recusal isn’t as big a deal as you think. Jeff Sessions is not as sleepy as you think. Rosenstien, Mueller and other agents for the deep state do not have the kind of upper hand in the DOJ that you think they have. They are being easily flipped because there is no honor among thieves.

When I turn out to be right about this, I bet you all try to sweep this disgusting Sessions blame campaign under the rug like it never happened.

Tweet to @realdonaldtrump something like this:
@realDonaldTrump Grateful for all you’re doing. But this BS at the DOJ has GOT to stop. It’s your DOJ... do something! #TiredOfWaitingDOJ
