Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress Kelly Marie Tran deleted all of her posts on Instagram following alleged harassment from Star Wars fans who did not like Trans character in the movie.
Star Wars Facts, a popular Twitter account, claimed Tran had deleted the posts due to months of harassment.

Peter Cushing was no also ran. :) But even Harrison Ford was pretty much an unknown when SW came out. He had bit parts in “The Conversation” and “American Graffitti” but the rest is mostly TV movies.
The way it usually works is they put out a casting call for a role, several people audition, and one of them gets the job. I had never seen or heard of the main chick, the Black guy, or the X-Wing pilot before the first one, they wanted lesser/unknowns.
If you want to get conspiratorial, her getting on her knees for the casting director is about 500 times more likely than Red China ordering them to shoehorn in a Vietnamese American or else.
Because the people at Lucasfilm wanted to appeal to Chinese audiences and get more Chinese money. Only problem is that the studios were pretty racist for treating all Asian ethnicities as one.
Jar Jar was a CGI character where you didn’t see the actor’s real face, kind of like C3PO was a robot where you didn’t see the actor’s face.

It did give more money to Rogue One and Force Awakens, but starting with the Last Jedi, Chinese audience interest dropped like a stone.
I don’t think she shut it down for harassment. It may be as part of a non-disclosure agreement so that she doesn’t spoil the next film.
