CNN projected Republican John Cox will finish in the top two, and advance to the general election in the California governors race.
Cox, a San Diego businessman, was endorsed by President Trump. Republicans feared they could be shut out of the governors race in November, which could have depressed GOP voter turnout and adversely affected the party's congressional candidates.
Former Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was attempting a political comeback in the race, but will fall short of making the general election.

Cox won’t win but the bigger news is Trump can help GOP candidates in their races.
Contrast that with Obama, who was an albatross for every Democrat for whom he campaigned in the 2010 mid-term election, who lost.
Let that sink in.
Hispanics dont vote their Catholicism
The amnesty wars here in 2004-2007 had Howlin and Dane and Sinkspur aping Bushie speak with that same logic that Hispanics are Catholic and surely they will vote their religious morality
Same morality that has 55 percent illegitimacy and 51 percent of first generation Hispanics on welfare etc even after 20 years
Blacks in rural areas also are Christian and do church for 3-4 hours on Sunday
But neither group takes that to the ballot booth

I agree with your points...
Is there any Hispanic or black elected official opposed to gay marriage or gay adoption? I am talking about Democrats...
I am sure those politicians know that some religious people in their districts do not like gay marriage...However, they know that they will still get votes from those religious people...
I do not think that CA Attorney General Becerra is worried about losing support from religious Hispanics even though he supports homosexual agenda...He just prohibited CA state employees from traveling to OK because OK adopted some anti-homosexual policy...
National GOP campaign type heavy hitters and $$ needed
for Cox to have any kind of a shot at Gavin Newscum.
Slim hopes abound.

I don’t know if I would advise RNC to send money to Cox...
Couldn’t money be spent in some other state more effectively?
I don’t want to sound too negative...However, I am skeptical that CA voters are willing to elect a Republican as Governor...
I saw some of Newsom’s victory speech...He critized Jeff Sessions for inhuman deportation policies...Newsom was upset that parents were separated from children...
Newsom took shots at Trump.
But Cox had the line of the night in reminding voters that his opponent made CA the most heavily taxed state in the country.
Two different visions of CA’s future. I doubt it’s voters are ready for change.
You are right on the money....this race for Governor is absolutely winnable. Trump will come to The Golden State of California and help John Cox defeat that low life, Democrat dirt bag, Gavin Newsome....Go...Cox, Trump...MAGA!!!
Correction. Hillary won California by 30 points. It was Trumps 2nd worst state.
Yes...Virginia...both the House and Senate will remain firmly in Republican hands. Pubbies will pickup six to eight Senate seats and 12-20 House seats. The Obama/Clinton, Democrat Party has destroyed itself!!!
Yup.
That’s why John Cox has an uphill battle.
He’s a conservative in a state with too few of them and the Democrats are deeply entrenched.
Cox has a good argument but faces a tough time selling to the state’s liberals electorate.
That said, I do. wish him the best.
But Feinstein faces Dem de Leon. Republicans voting for Cox for Governor should vote for her as at 85 year old she is less likely to stay in office for four years of Gov Cox?
de Leon could be in office for years, and more left than Feinstein?
Cox wasnt supposed to be there. Newsome can be beaten! VOTE!
“I wish they did dear....I love California....I plan to be in LA within a month for business....”
Actually blacks in California did vote with us, once. That was the ballot measure to prevent gay marriage in California. The conservatives worked with the black churches, under the radar, and they came out of nowhere and carried it through.
There is some potential again, and with Sanctuary crap and now bathroom monitoring, don’t rule out any possibilities just yet.
Reagan. Like Trump.
Interesting.
Democrats who are intelligent stop being Democrats.
At least a Republican is on the ballot.
All he needs to say is “If you like the direction California is headed today, vote for my opponent.”
TX has a modest number of “registered” voters by party. To be “registered” in TX one must vote every two years in a party primary. If he does not, he is called an “unaffiliated” voters.
A blue wave in TX could yet up-end TCruz, but most Republicans don’t think it will happen.
Former Mr. Kimberly Guilfoyle...
See Post #19.
de Leon could be in office for years, and more left than Feinstein?
Feinstein has senority, as a freshly minted Senator, De Leon has none. No matter how liberal he is, if the Democrats are the minority party he can not do much harm. As a senior Senator Feinstein can still do much mischief
So you spin the wheel and take your chances - it suck the way the Democrats stack the deck so you only get Democrats on the Ballot
“TwoSome” Newsome...
This is gonna be Good !
I see. De Leon in minority as powerless as Kampala Harris. Any potential Gov Cox appointment would serve short time.
It may be that California wants a change.
