Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said that the White House's school safety commission will not look at the role of guns in school violence.

DeVos was questioned Tuesday by lawmakers on the Senate Appropriations Committee about the commission, which was established in the wake of the February school shooting in Parkland, Fla.

"Will your commission look at the role of firearms as it relates to gun violence in our schools?" Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) asked DeVos.

"Will your commission look at the role of firearms as it relates to gun violence in our schools?" Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) asked DeVos.

"That is not part of the commission's charge, per se," DeVos responded.

"I see," Leahy responded. "So, you're studying gun violence but not considering the role of guns."

"We're actually student school safety and how we can ensure our students are safe at school," DeVos said.," DeVos responded.

Hmmm. Well, I might have answered the feckless urinalist a little differently. Don't care for the "...not part of the commission's charge, per se..." response. At least the "per se" part.

A better response would be:

“We are looking into every possible means for school staff to neutralize perpetrators of violence and remove the threat. And those means maY include guns.”

Any media members questioning her might as well have said in their Marxist snotty tone, “Will you send the military door-to-door to kill all NRA members and take their guns away?” It’s what they really want, isn’t it?

Keep in mind there are about 300 million firearms in America, or one per person / five per family of five people.

So, let's run the numbers:

Students are disarmed in public school, as are most employees.

In fall 2017, about 50.7 million students will attend public elementary and secondary schools.

Public school systems will employ about 3.2 million full-time-equivalent (FTE) teachers in fall 2017.

In 2014–15, there were about 13,600 public school districts with close to 98,200 public schools.

Armed officers were present at least once a week in 43% of all public schools during the 2015-16 school year.

If you assume one firearm per school where a guard was present, on average that's about one gun for every 1,276 public school student and teachers.

There are about 1.8 million homeschooled children. Let's assume HSing families average three children with both parents still married. If you do the math, that's one gun for every 0.6 homeschooled child, or 1.67 guns for every homeschooled child.

I'll save the govt some money...here is the punch line for your study: Send your kids to a safe school. HOMESCHOOL them.

Watch the gun-grabbers try to say that if your home has become a school for homeschooling then it must become gun-free.

For the chillun’.

What really causes most deaths of students?
Is it not hopelessness?
How many school shootings were there before federal involvement in local education?
Public schools have the wrong rules.

Population has exploded, firearm ownership has exploded, firearm deaths———down.

I am VERY impressed with how the two most pilloried Cabinet members — DeVos and Pruitt — have held their mud and taken every blow without flinching. Trump hired some good people. Some bad too — but took little time in dispatching them before they could harm him severely.

Donald might have said something like this.

Of course the lefties are now going to scream out of every screen they can “De Vos doesn’t care about gun violence in schools.”

At which point she can “capitulate” and point out that it would work quite well to have armed guards where it actually counts.

What are the ODDS of a child being shot in a school. What are the odds of a child being injured on the school grounds or going to school? Spend money where the odds favor the odds of occurrance. Spending minet on media hysteria (very rare school shootings) is a waste of money. How about seat belts on the school bus?
