Hofburg, which finished seventh at the Derby but didn't run in the Preakness, has a better shot at the upset. Tenfold, third in the Preakness, is hampered by not having the experience at the longer Derby. Vino Rosso disappointed with ninth at the Derby, but it has the talent and rest to rebound more than a month later.
Justify counters all that by having plenty of energy left, in the unique position of not having raced as a 2-year-old. It will be ready and it would be shocking if it's not in great position to take the Belmont coming down the final stretch.
Gronkowski, big and strong like its namesake, ran well in the Belmont tuneup. It has won four consecutive races in England, including the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Skipping the first two Triple Crown races should give Gronkowski plenty of juice for a powerful run.
The 150th Belmont Stakes is run on Saturday (6:37 p.m. ET post time, NBC),

Thanks for posting.
Right now I have one extra Grandstand seat. It might go, but it might not. Contact via FReepMail if you might be interested.

I’m going with Secretariat
PInging ETL as we just discussed this. Thanks!
I like Justify, but absolutely cannot stand Bob Baffert. So it is impossible for me to root for any of his horses no matter what.
What is all this it?
Justify may be a terrific horse, but I once again see a bias put for the horse just because he won the other 2 TC parts. Meanwhile what works for him somehow works against the other horses. It just aint so.
Im anxious to see what happens if he gets a NICE track. Hes run both TC parts in the rain/slop. That is nice but it would also be nice to see how he does with others running their best on a dry track.
Baffert also trained #5 Restoring Hope. Your choices are dwindling.
Sigh. We’ll never see a miracle like Secretariat again. I still can’t believe I saw what he did the first time!
Sigh. Well never see a miracle like Secretariat again. I still cant believe I saw what he did the first time!
Me too.........double sigh.......;(
“Sigh. Well never see a miracle like Secretariat again”
That’s for sure. One of the news weeklies called him ‘The Athlete of the Century’ and they weren’t exaggerating.
Here’s the race:

It just never gets old. I think they finally figured that Secretariat won by 31 lengths.
Poor old Sham ran the race of his life, a world record pace until he finally couldn’t keep up and Secretariat just kept pouring on the gas.
Doesn’t matter. I can’t root for any Baffert horse. Justify is a fine horse, but Baffert is not to be trusted.
there is so much about Secretariats Belmont race that defies belief...while the 31 length margin is jaw dropping, the time fractions are astonishing....1:09 4/5 for 6 furlongs, in a 12 furlong race!...1:59 flat at a mile and 1/4, beating his Derby time...2:24 flat for the final time, a World Record...all without Turcotte never raising the whip once. 90 degree day, and he didn’t even break a sweat. There were still some doubters prior to the race..its almost like the horse said “ ok..you wanna see what i can do?...WATCH THIS!”
why is Baffert not to be trusted?...this is the 6th horse hes brought to the Belmont with a shot at the Triple...the richest owners in the world send their horses to him...i dont get it.
My wife and I were driving to the Gulf for a vacation and I had the radio on listening to the race.
I literally could not believe the call of how much his lead was and how it kept getting larger.
Truly unbelievable.
We saw it before, were due again.
Secretariat was a piker. ;-)
(But... They shouldnt have run Secretariat, said Sonny Taylor, then and now a NYRA placing judge. He had a 102 temperature.")
Sham had a lot to do with that.
At the Kentucky Derby, Sham beat the course record, running 1:59 4⁄5 (unfortunately on the same day that Secretariat ran it in 1:59 2/5)
At the Preakness, Sham once again beat the course record... an once again finished just 2/5 of a second behind Secretariat. (It was also the first time that the top 3 in the Preakness were exactly the same as in the Derby.)
In the Belmont, as you can see in the video, Sham ran neck-and-neck with Secretariat, holding a lead at the halfway point, setting the record for the first half on that track... before falling back to last place, having taken on the Legend for 2 1/2 races, and finally giving out. Secretariat trainer Lucien Laurin commented on Sham's performance saying "The horse we had to kill, we did."
