New York Obamacare insurers want to raise prices for 2019 by an average 24 percent, with some plans seeking rate increases as high as nearly 40 percent.
The most common reason the state's 14 insurers on Obamacares exchanges gave for the increases was the repeal of the individual mandate in the new tax law. That follows insurers in several other states that have cited the mandate repeal and other moves by the Trump administration for their proposed rate hikes.
Insurers have attributed approximately half of their requested rate increases to the risks they see resulting from its repeal, New Yorks Department of Financial Services said Friday. Without the federal action, the average requested rate increase would be 12.1 percent.
The states insurance regulator is expected to negotiate with the insurers over final prices, which will be revealed before Obamacares open enrollment begins in November. Obamacare's exchanges are on the individual market, which is used by people who don't get insurance through a job or the government.

This is awesome. I don’t have health insurance and don’t have to pay the penalty because they keep jacking up the price of insurance. :)
Shameless.
Didn’t Trump say he was going to have a replacement plan ready soon? Maybe he can get Congress to act on it.
>>Shameless.<<
The law of Capitalism is like the law of Gravity. All the legislation in the world won’t stop it.
Isn’t this basically extortion?
John McCain voted against the replacement healthcare plan.
Trump and the RINOs need to make rules that simply allow Americans to ESCAPE our dysfunctional, corrupt, government-funded crony-capitalist health-care system.
In particular, incentivize doctors and medical groups to take CASH payments from individuals.
At 18 months into having the majority in the House and the Senate, and a President that will sign any Conservative legislation they send over...
Crickets!
This congress will go down as having left more on the table than any other Congress in our nation’s history.
What a wasted two years. Trump has done all he can. Now what?
What was the point of electing President Trump if nothing will be done domestically by the GOP? We might as well have had Clinton and save all of the hassle. As far as I can tell, the big MAGA agenda items are not close to 100% fruition. Mueller and the GOP will tie this administration up until the DNC gains more power and the tenure is finished. The coup has gone unabated.
“....This congress will go down as having left more on the table than any other Congress in our nations history....”
First off, there is NO two-party system in Congress. It’s all UniParty. We have the RAT coalition and the GOPe coalition. Two coalitions, but ALL UniParty. They “promote” a two-party system in an attempt to convince the “unwashed masses” that such exists, but it doesn’t. It’s all theatre...nothing else. It’s the UniParty and UniParty ONLY. What the UniParty wants is what the UniParty gets. Oh, and they just love lining their pockets with cash...if you know what I mean. They are Deep State, almost all of em.
Once one realizes this, what they do and/or don’t do makes perfect sense.
As far as the People are concerned, they’re as useless as teats on a boar hog.
Even the nasty old MadMaxiePad gets rich off the shoulders of the People via of the UniParty. McConnell, Ryan, PeeLouise, Dirty Harry, etc. have all made millions via of the UniParty and have the best healthcare in the world, but the “unwashed masses” have to settle for a 24% rate hike for this odongoCare BS? No wonder Deep State is doing it’s damnedest to outlaw guns.....They know it’s coming sooner or later....probably sooner.
Capitalism is the solution. This is crony capitalism at best, larceny of the taxpaying citizens at worst.
Yes, and this has never been more apparent than it is right now.
If you like your unaffordable ineffective government health care, you can keep your unaffordable ineffective government health care.
This is getting so far out of hand, it is ridiculous. Health care is not a right, it is a privilege originally designed by the medical profession to corral patients.
As competition grew due to the increased amount of doctors comming into existence starting in the 1960’s, the doctors wanted to find a way to keep their patients coming to them and not switching to other doctors. They did this by creating medical co-ops charging less money or providing different services for their patients to have an incentive to stay with them.
A few years down the road, insurance companies created another piece to the puzzle by representing the doctors with a group falling under brand insurance names. These people could find you a doctor for you needs, and charge you with a co-payment to the doc’s office at a better rate. So it went from a co-op to an insurance with only a few things changing except as more people got into the chain of need for each patient, the price started to climb. And when most companies started using health insurance as an incentive for hiring employees to sweeten the deal for the better employees, it added to the mix.
Suddenly everyone thought they needed insurance but the bidding war never materialized because the insurance companies found it profitable and due to company and doctor needs, the price couldn’t be adjusted.
So now, everyone, because of the government, is being forced to buy something that they don’t particularly need, at the cost required to handle the cost of it and the profit for the insurers and the government.
So what started out as a good deal incentive, has turned into a rip off law. And you have to have it or you pay a fine. And more and more businesses are dropping health insurance and more and more doctors are turning away from it because it is no longer profitable, they lose money. And the insurance companies are losing money, and the doctors are getting more patients than they have ever had. And they can’t charge enough to protect themselves from lawyers that sue them for millions and the patient in question gets a tiny percentage of it. Full circle.

Between this, the cancellation of deducting state and local taxes, and the general kooks like Cuomo and deblasio, the exodus from NYS is fast becoming a stampede.
However the fine has been stopped because Trump stopped it. You no longer have to buy Insurance or pay a fine.
