Roberts, Breyer, Alito, Kagan, and Gorsuch join Kennedy’s opinion; Kagan concurs, joined by Breyer; Gorsuch concurs, joined by Alito. Thomas concurs in part and in the judgment.

Woo Hoo! Finally.......freedom of religion is one of the reasons this country was created! The Left has had it’s way in ALL things, for way too long. Respecting all LAWS is important, not just the laws you like.

Looking at SCOTUS blog a narrow ruling. The majority decision was the so called Civil Rights Commission was biased against people of faith. The court did not decide if the state has the ability to force the baker to make the cake.

Great news. Should be made into breaking news. Religious freedom still exists—barely.

CNBC is so in shock they respond to a 7 -2 ruling like this:

“Supreme Court rules narrowly for Colorado baker....”

LOL!

“The government, consistent with the Constitution’s guarantee of free exercise, cannot impose regulations that
are hostile to the religious beliefs of affected citizens and cannot act in a manner that passes judgment upon or presupposes the illegitimacy of religious beliefs and practices.”
from the opinion...

Half the country trying to stomp out Christianity, and the other half trying to keep it. Glad the good guys won this round.

As I was afraid, this is a very narrow ruling that leave the door open for attacks from other directions.

Why can’t this freakin’ court RULE on the foundational issue for a change?

The commission violated the bakers civil rights of freedom of religion by forcing the gay issue. The commission should be forc d to repay all legal fees and expenses plus interest and pain and suffering.

It’s a pretty narrow decision based in large part on a perceived bias in the Colorado commission towards Phillps’ religious beliefs and the fact that gay marriage was illegal in Colorado at the time the cake was ordered. It’d be nice to think that this is the end of things but I expect that this is only the first time this gets taken to the Supreme Court and not the last.
