DISAPPOINTMENTS
Disappointments come to all of us; and the more I see of life, the more convinced I am that one of the most important lessons anyone can learn is how to handle these disappointments. One of the great disappointments in my youth happened during my sophomore year in high school when I was running for class president. The class elected a cute brunette cheerleader. Another popular girl, another of the cheerleaders, came in second. And I trailed the field with only four votes. That was quite a blow to a cocky young boy to be defeated by not one, but two good looking cheerleaders. I felt that all my friends had deserted me. It is sometimes hard to see God's hand in things. We may not understand why things happen the way they do. But God has a way of working through things, and fashioning our disappointments into something worthwhile. The girl who defeated me in the class election later became my wife! Prayer: O God, make us aware of your presence day by day. Help us be assured that all our disappointments can be turned over to you, and our lives can be strengthened and renewed. Amen. LT Kermit Holl, CHC, USNR

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
Psalm 62:8
My father died at 58 years of age. Ever since then, I pause on the date he died to remember Dad and reflect on his influence in my life. When I realized I had lived more of life without my dad than with him, I began pondering the brevity of my own life.
On reflection, we may wrestle with both an event in time and the feelings it stirs within us. Though we measure time with clocks and calendars, we remember times because of events. In the moments of life that trigger our deepest emotions, we can experience joy, loss, blessing, pain, success, failure.
The Scriptures encourage us: Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge (Psalm 62:8). This confident statement did not occur in a time of ease. David wrote these words while surrounded by enemies (vv. 34). Still, he waited quietly before God (vv. 1, 5) reminding us that Gods unfailing love (v. 12) is greater than any of the times of struggle we may face.
In every event, we have this confidence: Our God stands with us, and He is more than adequate to carry us through all of lifes moments. When the times of life threaten to overwhelm us, His help will be right on time.
Our God is ready to be with us in all the times of life.
Slowing down to consider what Psalm 62 tells us (or at least implies) about the situation that prompted the psalmist to write it can deepen our understanding of God. It helps us internalize the psalms teaching in a way that transforms us rather than simply informs us. These are not the blissful words of reflection from an untroubled soul. David writes from the tired depths of someone maligned and assaulted. Saying that hope comes from the Lord is simple when hope is a luxury. To say that you will not be shaken when even your friends are secretly cursing you (v. 4) is an expression of trust before, during, and after all other hopes have failed.
How can you express hope in God?

Good evening, Mac, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to the MacNessa family.
It’s good to see you....work has been a bear lately and I’m missing folks.
How is the job going? How is your ankle? Are you safe from the flooding back east?

It's good to be back. Kathy! The job has been in flux over the last month or so but we're still keeping the wolf from the door. The ankle is fine - I was in an Air-Cast and compression socks for about two weeks. I'm staying with the compression socks.
We have been spared by the floods, although another big squall line is coming through this evening.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Extremely muggy and buggy today, so Penny and I rode around together in the air conditioned car and had some adventures.
First we got gas, and the attendant gave her a cookie.
Then we got the car washed, which terrified penny, but then the car wash guy gave her a cookie.
Then we went to the bank, and the teller and loan officer BOTH gave her cookies.
Finally, we hit a few yard sales, no cookies there, so we came home...and then it rained!~ :-)

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS AND OUR BELOVED NATION!
Amazing Grace (Click)
By John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine.
When weve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when wed first begun.

I went to work for 3 hours today and made a good dent in the stack of stuff.
I’ll do the same tomorrow...being short-handed has things stacking up without hope of getting done, and they MUST. Payroll doesn’t care that you are short-handed
Anything exciting today? One of these days I’m hoping for nothing to do but kick back....ALL day! d:o)
