Yukky! With the added humidity y’all get, it probably WAS close to 113. Our humidity has been really low. At 4% the other day. Nothing helps a 106 temp, though. LOL! It’s still HOT!

This show from 1929 about the Gay Nineties was a huge hit, but it was a step backward for Kern and Hammerstein after the breakthrough that was “Show Boat.”

”WHY WAS I BORN?”

This is a 1929 recording from Helen Morgan of the only song from the musical that survived. It’s a real period piece, and the electrical recording techniques of the era permit you to hear what it must have sounded like in the musical.
