hen, just weeks after taking office, Donald Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court, the newly minted US president made good on a central promise of his campaign: to replace the late justice Antonin Scalia with a bona fide conservative.
That moment foreshadowed what is shaping up to be among the most indelible of Trumps triumphs the reshaping of the federal judiciary with the appointment of dozens of judges with an ideological bent toward the administrations agenda.
Republicans are working with Trump to make a record-breaking number of appointments to federal courts. These new, mostly young, white men will be in a position to rule on legislation that could change America for years. But the most contentious appointment would be a second nomination to the highest court in the land. The supreme court has over decades delivered landmark decisions on issues from abortion to affirmative action and same-sex marriage. The potential for Trump to install another justice on the nine-seat bench, some legal experts argue, could have profound consequences on issues ranging from womens reproductive health to LGBT rights. With speculation mounting over the possible retirement of supreme court justice Anthony Kennedy, Trump could have a lasting impact on reshaping Americas most important court.

Que in Dob Dylan “knock knock knocking at heavens door”
“I believe there will come a time when folks will be ashamed to admit they took a pass on voting for Trump or heaven forbid actually voted for Hillary”
well, for many of the former anti-trumpers here, i think that time arrived some time ago ...
Ginsberg will hang on until she's lost her grip on the edge of the coffin that she will be buried in...............
I’d like to see graduates of Hillsdale College and Ava Maria Law School nominated instead of the same old group-think Ivy League types. Maybe even some from - heaven forbid -state schools.
“Someone has a device that reads ones blood sugar continuously. Dont know if theres something that automatically gives you insulin (besides a pump, I think), but sounds like Diabetes 1 will soon not be a problem.”
My niece, who is now 50, has had Type I since she was 7. She has, throughout her life, been fastidious about maintaining her blood sugar, has had 5 children, and has the latest insulin pump. ( and she is married to a doctor) She is now starting to have macular degeneration and other signs that the Diabetes is still winning, and may well end up shortening her life. So I think it would be a mistake to think that with the advances in medical science with respect to this disease, that it is going to end up “not being a problem” in the near term. The issue is that nothing yet is able to master the body’s process for maintaining proper levels of insulin on a continuous basis. And every time you go out of tolerance, irreversible damage is done.
It’s really sad that you have that outlook. Better get out now and find yourself a country where “you don’t have to worry!”
Lower court judges as soon as McConnell gets around to confirming them.
DO, just responded to Steve Scalise’ dunning me for money “to support Republicans in the Congress who are supporting Donald Trump and Mike Pence!”
I can’t write verbatim what I told him, because Jim Rob wouldn’t like some of the verbiage, but suffice it to say I told him that until Ryan, McCarthy and he were gone from the “House Leadership,” and that the “house members” who were part of the GOPE departed as well, he wouldn’t be seeing a f*cking dime from me! The idea that the GOP is in any way shape or form supporting the Trump Admin. is a complete fabrication and lie!
I did, however, say I was sorry that he had been shot.
I work at a hospital. You are so right. Talking to the experienced nurses is like talking to an old mechanic. Remember the guys who could walk up to a car, listen for ten seconds and tell you what was wrong and that you were about to blow a rod. 30+ year nurses are like that. They take one look at a chart and they know.
The Wall is being built. The military is being renovated and thousands of Illegal gang bangers rounded up.
Trump would have accomplished even more than his fantastic achievements if the Democrats hadn’t tied many of his initiatives in the courts.
Trumps greatest achievement would be re-shaping the court system and return respect for the Constitution.
Those who don’t recognize his fidelity and success in fulfilling his promises are extremely tiresome.
how is the Wise Latina doing?
when last heard from,
she had a broken shoulder,
and was contemplating, reverse shoulder replacement (OUCH).
sounds very unpleasant
That is not exactly a "range." Anthony Kennedy's court has managed to reinvent the Constitution so that its sole purpose is defending sexual misbehavior. A reasonable Supreme Court will toss this madness out the window.
I am sorry your are sad and that you are confused about me being worried.
While uselessly worry about emotional issues try examining the world as it exist and explain why I am wrong. I promise you a factually based reply will not sadden or worry me. That is, if your own emotions will allow you to reply in such a manner.
In truth, my comments were tongue it cheek! It's just that your commentary leads one to the supposition that you see no hope for the future! That after Trump, the Marxists will “once again take over, this resurgence will be with a vengeance, and the result will be the the loss of our country. That's how I read what you said. And although, you are, by no means. "alone" in your beliefs. Even here on FR there "gloom and doom" folks who think as you have outlined. I have "no negative emotions" where the future of our country is concerned. While the battle against Marxism is far from over, at this juncture I would be the last person to talk disparagingly about our chances for survival as a Republic. From what you wrote, I got the distinct idea that you were ready to throw in the towel now. At least give Trump 8 years to see if he can effect a recovery. If I've misread you, please accept my apologies up front.
She’s in the Dead Pool. So is the wise Hispanic woman, Sotomayor, who has something worse than diabetes.
...if they survive the lethal dose of fentanyl that goes with these surgeries!

PS Bet you haven’t seen Red High Heel wearing Sensitivity Training since Trump came in.
You mean a Supreme Court Justice in waiting? One who has been placed in a position to step in immediately, in case of death or retirement.
Hope not. Just think what Obama would have done if he had that option.
