He shouldn’t have picked someone who revered the DOJ. Like he did at Education and Energy and even commerce he should have picked someone who had a healthy disdain for the department who regularly pointed out it’s many, many problems. Those are the type of people who will work to change it. So all those saying “Gowdy” he’d be a horrible pick for just the same reason. He “revers” the department and cherishes its history (which needs to be destroyed and built a new).

Trump can appoint an interim AG and they can start the job immediately,

Wrong, the senate would have to be in recess for Trump to make that kind of appointment. mcconnel has not put the senate in recess since Trump became president.

McCabe has had a criminal referral for a couple of months. Tick tock. Nada.

Trump has made this statement before. A few times. As long as the current Senate gets to decide who his replacement is, why bother. Maybe after the midterm election.

As if Trump can’t just appoint an acting head of the DOJ. Mitch is a much bigger problem than Paul ever was!

“Because firing his AG, while he was under serious investigation, worked out so well for Nixon.”

I don’t think he fired John Mitchell. I think he fired Archibald Cox, the Mueller of the day.

Donald Trump left Trump wide open for the “Mueller Rosenstein endless cavity search.”

Troll. Yawn.

Interim appointment is not the same thing as a recess appointment. This is covered in ‘The Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998’.

If Trump gets reelected I guarantee Sessions won’t be around for the second term.

2nd term? I guarantee Sessions won’t be around after the Mueller witchhunt concludes!

Why is this news? Trump has already said if he'd known Sessions was going to recuse himself, he wouldn't have nominated him. Recycled news.

From a July 2017 CNN article:

Trump says he wouldn't have picked Sessions if he knew he'd recuse himself

The Mueller witch hunt, in one for or another, will still be going on long after you and I are gone.

Either fire him or not. These tweets do nothing for either one of them.

"So the narrative I should accept is that Donald Trump is a weak, pathetic leader who whines about his senior staff but doesn't do anything to replace them?"

What you do not get is that Trump can not fire Sessions. Firing Sessions puts the rat Rosenstein in charge of DOJ. As bad as Sessions is, Rosenstein would be worse. If he fired Sessions he would have to fire Rosenstein too. If he did that there would be hell to pay and he would be inpreached. Sadly Trump is stuck with the coward Jeff Sessions until after the midterm elections. And maybe until after the 2020 elections. Congress (the Senate) has made it clear they will not confirm anyone as AG if Trump fires Sessions. Checkmate.

In Trump’s world there was always a quick and effective way of handling a hire who didn’t work out: i.e.: You’re fired. Hiring a person who didn’t perform well on the job wasn’t a huge deal because the remedy worked so well.

With Sessions the traditional remedy doesn’t pertain. Trump already floated the idea of firing Sessions, and the deep Swamp response was ferocious and overwhelming. The congressional Democrats AND the Republicans vowed both to unleash hell on Trump and to NEVER confirm a replacement.

Iow, the problem is the swamp, and there’s no easy solution.

It would not be unprecedented for Trump to fire Sessions and never appoint a replacement. He hasn’t done it at the cabinet level but he’s done it elsewhere. I’m dealing with a client who has a matter before a Federal regulatory board. The board is supposed to have 5 members but only has 2 because nobody has been nominated to fill the 3 vacant seats.

If he fires him they will not confirm another...

What is the expiration date on that sentiment?

We've learned a LOT about what went on at the FBI, DoJ, Intelligence; we've learned a LOT about how Clapper, Brennan, Comey, McCabe, and others lied to Congress and the courts; we've learned a LOT about spying, wiretapping, unmasking; we've seen a LOT of retirements, resignations, and firings.

Does any of this change the intransigence of the early Senate Republican opinion on this matter, or are they, too, going to blindly march to a conclusion with a willfully total disregard for all that happened in the last 12 months?

“Why? He’s left Trump wide open for the Mueller Rosenstein endless cavity search.”

Meanwhile they haven’t laid a hand on Trump. He is still Making America Great Again despite everyone’s efforts to destroy Trump. And Sessions is doing his thing.

I think once the IG report comes out, Sessions will make a move since it has nothing to do with Russia hacking the election. And if the left claims it did and Hillary said she destroyed all the email and it was all retained on an illegal server, someone is going to prison. First thing would be to revoke all immunity deals given by prosecutors. Then take them down one at a time starting with Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC servers.

Trump could have fired Rosenstein a long time ago.
