Veterans from across the country will be gathering in our nation's capital on Memorial Day this year to not only honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, but to advocate for a cause that isn't typically associated with our nation's heroes -- the legalization of marijuana.
The veterans and advocates taking part in the Memorial Day Veterans Rally DC hope to change the stigma that surrounds cannabis, the preferred term for marijuana among advocates, by arguing that this alternative medicine is already helping some vets treat issues like PTSD, chronic pain and depression -- all without the use of dangerous & addictive prescription drugs like opioids. One of their rallying cries is "plants over pills," and they're not just coming from the usual legal pot hot-spots like Colorado.
The speakers are traveling from places as far west as Alaska, as far south as Texas, and as far north as New England to support the cause, and to share their stories of how legal marijuana helped ease their pain, alleviate symptoms of PTSD, and even get back into the workforce. Among those scheduled to speak are one of the first responders to the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, the mother of a 24-year-old Marine who took his own life after battling PTSD, and the owner of a veteran-operated cannabis company dedicated to "medical cannabis for military veterans."

Why?
As a veteran diagnosed with PTSD by the VA, I have NEVER smoked, inhaled or advocated the use of marijuana by ANYONE. Throughout my life I’ve seen abortion - previously known to be murder - “rationalized” by survey, after study, after public opinion, now legalized. I have seen euthanasia go from being illegal and immoral to now becoming “legal” as merciful after tolerance by our society to acceptable. Many states have legalized marijuana but we still have the same problems, yet MORE suicides and disturbed behaviors. As much as were are now seeing more “public opinion” sway to accepting a drugged up society, I can recognize that the tolerance we have toward marijuana use is now becoming acceptable, like abortion, like euthanasia, like pedophilia, etc. Giving EVERY person “legal” access to marijuana is NT the answer.

Only after 65 does one hopefully possess the maturity to weigh and risk the benefits over the detriments. And vice versa.

Do they work full-time? and for an employer who drug screens and accepts their MJ Rx?
When/how often do they take their dose?
Do you know if they are taking their MJ dose by smoking it or in pill form?
If the former, do you think they would be accept their MJ in pill form? Or if by inhalation ... getting their MJ smokes from a drug store like Walgreens?
Do they think uses other than medical uses should be illegal?

Many work full time, not all. Nowdays very few in the tech business test for pot.
They smoke it in the evenings, wake up fresh in the morning.
Somedays, I really wish this fantasy were true. I wince at every rough road section I travel to take vets 36 miles each way to their pain management clinic to get their monthly re-fill on their prescription when the VA clinic is 900 feet from their door.
Not for pot to be legal but the other non-hallucinogenic hemp oils to be legal, you bet. They are great medicine.
A friend of mine has diabetic neuropathy in his feet. Says it feels like he’s stepping on several marbles with every step he takes. He and his wife each have medical marijuana cards in NM so they grow their own and make cannabis butter. She makes him brownies with the butter and he takes a quarter of a brownie about every four to five hours. Says “it’s a miracle.”
The doctor had him on four Rxs previously and none of them did anything at all. The doc was happy to give him an Rx for pot. I believe he grows the high CBD variety for the neuropathy.
Not that it matters in this case but he is a USMC veteran from the early ‘60s.
I’m more into the CBD oil myself but I’m sure Big Pharma hates hemp altogether for encroaching on their profits.
I don’t think mariauana and PTSD are a good mix. It sounds like a recipe for a bad trip.

Yes, the high CBD varieties exist, but are hard to find for many.
Getting off pharmacy chemicals is a godsend for a lot of people. Others are OK with opiates because they think cannabis is “dope”.

CBD is the arthritis wonder drug everyone has hoped for.
