My NewsBusters colleague Tom Blumer has pointed out how old media outlets have failed to report on the stunning shift in the Reuters/Ipsos poll showing the midterm election choices swinging towards the Republicans. Not only is much of the mainstream media ignoring polls showing this shift they are also failing to report on evidence on the ground in elections themselves that enthusiasm for the Democrats is waning.
One such significant bit of evidence occurred in the recent Texas primary runoff elections in which Democrat turnout hit a record low. This was reported by the Texas Tribune, normally a liberal cheerleader for the Democrats to the extent that they refrained from reporting on a significant setback in the Wendy Davis campaign in 2014 when she was running for governor in that state. However, even the Texas Tribune can't hide the sad truth as it reported on May 22 that Voter turnout in a Texas Democratic gubernatorial runoff hasnt been this low in nearly 100 years:

Texas has not had a state-wide democratic office holder since 1994.
I dont think a fat open lesbian who owes $12,000 in property taxes being the Democrat nominee for Governor is going to help with Democrat turnout.
The Democrat for Senator has advocated banning assault weapons!
And the only reason she won was because of the idiot comment made by the then sitting governor about rape.
Clayton Williams was not a sitting governor
This article claims that the “conservatives” and far-Right were defeated in the Republican Party.
Well, George P. Bush survived his primary.
That was 1990, not 1994, when Ma Richards beat Claytie.
Valdez goes into the November general election as the first openly lesbian
and first Latina candidate to win a major party gubernatorial nomination in
Texas. She told cheering supporters in Dallas that she's not deterred by
conventional wisdom that she faces long odds against Gov. Greg Abbott, a
well-funded incumbent.
The only Blue the Dems will see in November will be them singing the blues...
Ping to TX Blue Wave!
Think about it...everything Odungo gets involved with turns to Shiite...
He’s the turd in the punch bowl, the hair in the soup, the piece of feather on a fried chicken wing....
Hehehe....she needs to talk to Maxine Waters and buy herself a better quality wig.
What most people don’t know is that Texas didn’t elect a Republican to a Statewide office until 1976.
“The South will rise again” actually turns out to be Republican.
Not only is much of the mainstream media ignoring polls showing this shift they are also failing to report on evidence on the ground in elections themselves that enthusiasm for the Democrats is waning.
Yeah? So? Good for them....let their constituencies slumber on safely thinking someone else will go vote....Then they can wake up to a stunning reality day after the election. Like 2016.
“I dont think a fat open lesbian who owes $12,000 in property taxes being the Democrat nominee for Governor is going to help with Democrat turnout.”
Surprised that the Democrats are throwing the governor’s election. They were bound to lose anyway, since Abbott is a popular person in Texas, but by throwing it, as opposed to running a legal person without tax ‘issues’ who could also fire up the base (such as Wendy Davis, again), there chances down-ballot drop tremendously.
So it looks like Cruz is finally safe and Republicans will have another mid-term sweep in Texas.
Good.
Cruz has always been safe.
