North Korea said on Friday it was still open to talks with the US despite Donald Trump's threat of military action after cancelling their June 12 summit in Singapore.
Pyongyang described the US president's decision to pull the plug on the much anticipated meeting as "extremely regrettable".
"The abrupt announcement of the cancellation of the meeting is unexpected for us and we cannot but find it extremely regrettable," Kim Kye Gwan, North Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister, said in a statement carried by the state-run KCNA news agency.
"We again state to the US our willingness to sit face-to-face at any time in any form to resolve the problem," Kim added.
The US president said on Thursday the American military was ready if necessary to react with its allies should North Korea take any foolish or reckless acts.

And lil Kim running after Trump begging to talk...priceless.
This is going to sound odd - especially considering how swift and bloody Lil Kim has been is dealing with opposition (real or imagined) - but I have been thinking of the “two letters” portion of the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. The first, written by Krueschev (sp) was conciliatory and spoke of avoiding war, etc. The second, arriving a day or so later was written by hawkish elements of the Central Committee and was bellicose and threatening. President Kennedy chose to ignore the second and responded to the first.
Is it possible that Kim Jong Un isn’t as in control in Norkland as we have been led to believe?
President Trump’s letter certainly shows a bias toward the peaceful solution of the crisis.
ANYBODY would be a fool to believe them now.
No drop it on their USS Pueblo monument
This is only half done. The US cannot afford to be in response mode and just let DPRK dictate the agenda. Therefore, the US must ramp up sanctions on major Chinese banks who are in fact doing business with DPRK, and kick them out of the USA. China has been the big problem in this whole charade. Does anyone think that DPRK has not been feverishly trying to redesign and rework heat shields for ICBM reentry vehicles during this whole three month charade of Pyeongchang Olympic visits, Kim-Moon giving each other tongue at Panmunjom, and then the illusion of productive talks to occur in Singapore? It is all one big stalling tactic, so we need to turn it on its head and prosecute Beijing here which has been coordinating with Kim all along to roll the US, Japan and other allies in the region.
NK talks provocatively and rudely like that all the time, for years in fact over and over and over, until up to now they got spoiled and used to the US side getting freaked out over such threats and returning to the table, especially Clinton and Obama’s teams, but also under Bush 2 in the second term...so imagine how the Norkies are scratching their heads (and their nuts) this morning when they see that the empty threat not only did not work on Trump, it pissed him off and they lost the phony summit which in reality they really wanted as a stall tactic to run out the clock. Now that has been denied them. Well played Mr. President.
Greatest negotiator on the planet.
*snort*
Trump did the walk away close
Agree 100%. Their present gamesmanship is simply about stalling long enough for them to perfect nuclear ICBM technology. They already have hydrogen bombs. Now they have to make them deliverable.
This is how power is properly exercised.
Trump pulled a Reykjavik before even getting to Reykjavik. Winning!
If that North Korean official, who threatened us in his statement with “our nukes and your nukes” will meet, is still alive by Midnight, I’ll swear off cursing.
These guys are as bad as CNN. Trump threatened military action, really? Trump is always “threatening” or “boasting” but Obozo was always “brilliant”, “articulate”, and “presidential” even though his administration was always amateur-night.
That is exactly what happened. We did, he did, and now wants to talk. WIN AGAIN
One never considers fun while discussing nuclear war but this...does bring a smile to my face.
I am also under the impression that Kim may not be in full control and maybe HE is the moderate voice. Trump may be trying yo give him power in his own country. The opposite could also be true and Kim isn’t the moderate and Trump is working on getting someone else the ball to run with. I don’t think this ends without a faction within the regime getting the mob boss treatment
That’s the first reaction when someone has you by the short-hairs, blink dude...
China needs to get a slap in the face.
