DENVER - Chipotle Mexican Grill announced its moving its headquarters from Denver to Newport Beach, California.
"We'll always be proud of our Denver roots where we opened our first restaurant 25 years ago. The consolidation of offices and the move to California will help us drive sustainable growth while continuing to position us well in the competition for top talent," said Brian Niccol, chief executive officer at Chipotle.
The company said all work within the current Denver office will be consolidated to Chipotle's office in Columbus, Ohio or moved to the new headquarters in California.
The next six months will be dedicated to transitioning the Denver and New York office functions to Newport Beach and Columbus, Chipotle says. The new location will serve as a headquarters for all company operations, business development, communications, finance, marketing, food safety, HR and more.
Chipotle says following the transition, the Denver and New York offices will close.

We dont drive much, so gas tax irrelevant. We dont have air conditioners in house so electric prices are irrelevant. Food and alcohol is as cheap or cheaper than Colorado. House is 400 per square foot, Colorado is approaching that.
The article says the new CEO lives in Newport Beach. Looks like he is pissing away millions of stockholder dollars to move the company to him.
Chipotle runs a good business. Good, wholesome food at reasonable prices. Quality ingredients. Friendly employees. Clean restaurants. I've never had a bad experience there.
The begging of the death spiral were the numerous cases of e. Coli and salmonella. This move is just the last breath.
“_I also moved from Colorado to California recently”
Nice move Magellan.
“Maybe the CEO has a beach house and a yacht in Newport Beach. That is the only reason that I can think of.
“
Probably his wife wants to move.
Never understood as to why people eat there in the first place. They have had bad reviews, e coli, , and it is to that good.
same for me
same
They must have looked for the state with the highest taxes, almost the most expensive gas, long commute times, near an ocean, with high crime rates, and 10 million illegals.
will likely ruin the corporation if it so foolishly moves to the anti-business, super-high-tax, impossible living costs state of Californication. (average home price approaching $2,500,000 and even higher in some neighborhoods)...
Yep....The CEO and family already live in Newport Beach.
That way it looks like a wash on expenses.
Except for those five floors of offices in downtown Denver.
>I also moved from Colorado to California recently. Cost of living is around 10-15% higher.
>However, where you work is where the boss wants to live.
I’d get another Boss before following one there. Or become my own Boss.
I did not read the story, I already guessed the reason. Seen it before.
Ate there once and was not impressed. Its right down the street but Id rather skip food poisoning. Oh and its right next to Starbucks. No thanks.
What kind of idiot moves their headquarters here to California in this the height of anti business climate by the socialists in charge.............I guess the king of E. Coli outbreaks does.

I forgot all that food poisoning stuff.

“You are probably not far off. The CEO was the head of Taco Bell until he took the job with Chipolte earlier this year. Guess where Taco Bell HQ is located? Irvine, which is next to Newport Beach.”
