The "normal" life of people infected with HIV is hounded with increased medication resistance, debilitating side effects, more rapid aging, and more compromised bodies. If you dig in just a little bit on the details, you'll find that living with HIV controlled with medication is still far from a picnic. And near perfect adherence is essential.
