Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams called for the removal of the giant carving that depicts three Confederate war leaders on the face of state-owned Stone Mountain, saying it "remains a blight on our state and should be removed."
"We must never celebrate those who defended slavery and tried to destroy the union," Abrams said in a series of tweets posted early Tuesday, a response to the deadly violence sparked by white supremacist groups in Charlottesville, Va.

Never mind, Bing is my friend, I looked it up.
incel = involuntary celibate = people who are trying to get laid or to date women, but who are unable to, for whatever reason. Some incels, whom I like to refer to as “designated bachelors”, are perfectly fine people. However, others, the ones I call “friggin’ incels” are these rage-filled sub-humans on certain internet boards who call for such “remedies” as throwing acid in women’s faces for not wanting to go out with them. They worship such people as Elliott Rodgers, who shot and stabbed a number of people, because women did not wish to date him.
The (friggin’) incels call beautiful, sexually active women “Stacys”, while calling handsome, sexually active men “Chads.” Less attractive, sexually active women are called Beckys. Chad, I believe, is short for “Chad Thunderc*ck.”
The Canadian lady who invented the term “incel” regrets the label having been taken over by the sub-humans on the internet boards, according to Wikipedia.
I made this observation in the 1980s, while attending college classes at night. Most all of the history instructors I had....leaned to the right, and were conservatives. I don’t think I had a single left-wing history professor.
someone wrote this- not sure who:
“Isn’t it great to live in the 21st century? Where deleting history has become more important than making it “
or with Nikki Haley
“Bury the past because it offends someone today.”
Exactly. The Demoncrat past is most offensive of all and they complain of the evil past of others.
The Stone mountain carvings are less than 50 years old
It's more akin to the tearing down of Lenin monuments.
Destruction of Davis' tomb. Remember that Lee opposed the construction of public memorials to Confederate rebellion on the grounds that they would prevent the healing of wounds inflicted during the war.
I think this requires a lot more thinking -- I'm against destroying it as it is far more complex and costly than tearing down or replacing a statue.
A better aim would be to put both the sides of the argument near the monument. The two sides were not completely evil or complete saints.
Not one whit different from many posters here

That’s been true throughout history, right from Thotmose III erasing the monuments to Hatshepsut in around 2000 BC to the eternal Damnation of various emperors in Rome to now
Southerners forget that the Morrill Tariff law would have never passed in the Senate, had the Senators from the seven seceding states remained in Congress to vote against the law.
This is thinking worthy of Mao’s Red Guard and al-Qaeda/ISIS.
Not a comment on your post but about the candidaten, the midterms and maybe that war.
If Jackson had his way, he would have marched toward New York years before Sherman even dreamed about Atlanta.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe the state owns the Stone Mountain Confederate Memorial. Didn’t they turn it over to a private organization to maintain?
Yeh that will help. LOL!
Jackson didn’t have his way. He was subordinate to General Lee. As the Army commander, Lee would never have authorized that.
It's also true that Lee invaded the North twice but too late and with too little reckless abandon.
Both invasions of the North, demonstrate a shortcoming in General Lee’s abilities.
I’d say “resources”.
Lee planned both operations. Resources, sufficient to support the campaign, is the responsibility of the Army Commander. He was checked at Antietam by one other than George McClellan. He was soundly defeated at Gettysburg by George Meade.
