A highly skilled communicator who performed a great service to President Reagan, and a lovely woman. Even close to age 80, she took it upon herself to mentor yound conservatives recently appointed to a Republican adminstration. She was also a devout R.C. Christian and grandmother, and a fine musician.

Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did, so the saying goes, but she did it backwards and in high heels. Faith Whittlesey popularized this quotation during the 1980s, and many books attribute the line to her. The message clearly resonated with a generation of American men and women coming to age in the late 20th century, when all things seemed possible....
DelCo like me, cool. RIP
Bigly Trump list ping
Graduate & Professional Degree ping
Name not ringing a bell.
Will have to read up.
Sad news. Thanks for the ping.
Just read her wiki. What a life. And coincidentally she graduated from Wells just a few years after my mother, then married into the Whittlesey family of which I am a descendant from my father’s side. Small world. May she rest in peace.
Interesting. Great life...productive.
Delco like me as well. RIP Madam Ambassador.
RIP
RIP.
And without all the whining and grandstanding about glass ceilings, blah blah blah. She just put one foot in front of the other and didn't stop until the Lord called her home.
Wow, great lady. Husband and son committed suicide from depression but she continued on carrying aloft the banner of Reagan conservatism... RIP
I had the privilege of knowing her briefly. A wonderful person. It is a sad loss for her family and many colleagues.
Wow, what a hard working advocate for the free republic. Tireless achiever, educator, innovators, communicator. Many thanks for posting, Albion.
RIP
May she rest in peace. Thank you for the ping, AW. She was a remarkable woman.
trisham, I thank and appreciate so much your thoughtful post of flowers.
All the lefties shriek about their rights and oppression; and this daughter of immigrants just excelled and excelled, never letting anything stop her; yet is hardly known about or remembered because she was a conservative, even on this conservative forum.
The daughter of a working-cass Irish immigrant, she earned a full scholarship to a top law school and let nothing stand in the way of giving back to this country. She was the one on Reagan's White House staff who fought most vigorously for the Second Amendment, as well as having supported so many other conservative principles. As Reagan's chief communicator, she developed a policy that everyone on Reagan's team would be informed of the conservative principles governing his initiatives.
She was the only female member of Reagan's White House staff; that's how tough her climb had been, in comparison to the many women appointed by Trump, and even by Zero and Dubya.
It's a loss.
