Washington Post: Can Americans ditch guns the way we ditched cigarettes?

Not that long ago, cigarettes were completely woven into American culture. The Marlboro Man, posters telling us that more doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette, even the armrests on planes and all our cars were designed for smokers.
And now? Not so much.
Can it work like that with guns?
(snip)
I grew up surrounded by cigarette smoke. My dad smoked. So did practically everyone else I knew.
But my kids? Totally different.
They saw someone smoking in a restaurant while we were traveling abroad recently and they freaked out, like theyd witnessed a beheading.
Inconceivable in their world.

These articles will never be honest enough to acknowledge the primary issue of self defense required by rampant criminality in the USA

Washington Post: Can Americans ditch guns the way we ditched cigarettes? Forcing us to wear seatbelts was the first step.
Then getting cigarettes wiped out of the culture was the second.
These two victories make the nanny state think they can do it again with guns.
After guns, conservatives will be eliminated.

You can, actually, you little snowflake. You and your generation can wean yourself from guns.
Then you can have a parade to celebrate like the French did:

Cigarettes were never acknowledged as a Constitutional Right.
Cigarettes did not have strong positive uses that were shown to save lives.
Cigarettes were not woven into human DNA as weapons are.

Giving up smoking was to save my life. Keeping my guns handy is saving my life. No question there.

Shut up, WaPo. As an aside, I came across an episode of the Tonight Show from 1975. It seems bizarre these days to see Johnny Carson smoking on the show. He had on Joan Rivers and Truman Capote - a real time trip.

I smoke while I shoot my guns.
Suck it, wankers.

They are trying to equate a very negative change (getting rid of the 2A) with a very positive change (quitting smoking) and the only correlation is that it’s “change”, and “kids”.
Next time the shitbags will use puppies or kittens.
