Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel, the saying goes. Yet the Trump administration is picking a fight with American newspapers over something they buy at even greater cost and quantity: newsprint.

So Trump with tariffs being placed on Canadian newsprint it the reason why American newspapers are failing. Maybe it could be that hard working Americans don't want to read the leftist biased barnyard sweepings that are printed in today's newspapers.
What’s a newspaper?
I seriously doubt that there is a single MSM journalist who even understands what "freedom of the press" actually means.
Paper purportedly containing news. This has been debatable for quite some time.
Two for the price of one. Now where did I put my Give a Damn costume.
How long before someone posts a “Nelson” picture. I would but I am a dumbass.
San Francisco Chronicle, the bastion of Lying Leftism.
Dont automatically believe these Lying Leftist Media outlets that proved themselves during the 2016 campaign to be operatives of the DNC and intentional liars. They are presumed to be lying and we should presume what they publish is a lie. The presumption can only be rebutted with the outlet providing clear and convincing evidence they are not lying.
If this story is true and has some redeeming value, at least get the story from a reasonably reliable source, not from a known Lying Leftist operative posing as a news organization. Youve done the Patriotic Right a service. Much better than the mindless repetition of lying sources and their lying headlines.
It is decorated paper which the people in Venezuela use to clean their behinds.
Due to their failed economy, Venezuela is one of the largest importers of unsold U.S. Newspapers in World.
The tariffs will really mean the people of Venezuela will once again take it in the end due to their former dictator.
The socialists love taxing stuff that isnt eco-friendly enough for them. Papers are wasteful. They fill up landfills. Not many people have birdcages anymore.
That's an obsolete quote. A more accurate one is:
"Someone who buys ink by the barrel doesn't stand a chance against Donald Trump and a Twitter account."
Weicker campaigned for Senate, at my workplace, in the 70’s. The guy just oozed slime and insincerity from every pore. Was glad I had moved West, by the time he became Governor.
Bid Surprise... the article fails to mention that Newspapers are spending a fraction of what they used to on Newsprint... Tariff or not this will not change. This is because the number of pages in the typical newspaper is approximately a third of what it used to be. And their circulation is way down as well.
The San Francisco Chronicle is a victim of the open border policies they promote. Their paper is printed in English which the vast percentage of new California residents don’t speak or read.
something they buy at even greater cost and quantity: newsprint.
I’m OK with the Ministry of Propaganda taking a hit.
Dear John Diaz,
I think y’all have got far more serious problems in your city than the price or availability of ink.
Please grow up.

Once again the Comical misses the point
Nobody cares about the rags put out by big city news papers. Give me a small home town news sheet. That is good enough
Unwanted material that is used to line pet critter cages.
Gosh, good thing that major newspapers dumped all those American companies to save $27 a roll on paper. Oh, durn, now the Canadian newsprint will cost $38 more a roll for newspaper, guess those publishers will go running to American suppliers...
Oh, right, dumping by Canadian manufacturers pretty much means there’s no US newspaper makers left.
Having once been a sales rep for a paper company who also made newsprint, I'm saying there was lots of USA newsprint - until the tree huggers made it impossible to operate and/or expand our mills to be competitive with the Canucks and Asians.
From a business standpoint, the reduction in new paper readership in lieu of getting news from the internet was a blessing, over the long term.
