You are correct....there is something weird about it. I don’t recall anyone who was famous talking about their funeral as much as him.
He’s already dead Jim.
Larson was superintendent when I was there. I felt he was better than the one that followed - but I really only met him twice. He had a solid focus on ensuring the academic rigor was maintained. Think he was called back there in the 90s to help clean up some shenanigans just before retiring.
USNA takes very very few for burial due to space though they did build a columbrian while I was there there in 1987.
Could care less where mcstain ends up.
Actually, it all began at U.S. Naval Base in the Panamanian Province of Colon, Coco Solo. Like McCain, it too is now a crumbling ghost town.
Good...Will have to start saving bottles of urine to sell dockside...
Midshipmen.
K-dets go to them other schools ;-p
A plot in Hanoi next to Jane Fonda would be more appropriate
It would only be fitting. McCain was brain dead at the Naval Academy so if he is laid to rest there when his brain cancer kills his brain permanently no one will notice any difference in his status while at the Academy.
That's where it should have ENDED -- with McCain FLUNKING OUT. That's what happened to 3 students ABOVE McCain and the 1 student below his grade level. They all were expelled. But Johnny's daddy and grand-daddy were freakin' ADMIRALS -- and so they couldn't have THAT.
Just imagine how many people would still be alive/how much less damage to America would have been wrought had the Academy's brass simply done the right thing and expelled John S. McCain Jr.
Well, I guess graduating second from last in your Academy class qualifies you for a spot in their cemetery...I guess.
Sen. McCain is JSM III. His father was JSM Jr.
Anything you want John, just DO IT ALREADY!!!!
I tend to agree. Why hasn’t he been seen in public via TV or pics? He is a media hound like his bud Gramercy. Strange now he won’t show his face for TV time.
Frankly while I don’t like McCain even at the Naval Academy, better there than at Arlington by his Father and Grandfather who were real heroes and Honorable Men.
There is a small naval cemetery out in San Francisco, Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, this is the where Admiral Chester Nimitz along with his friends Admiral’s Ray Spruance, Richmond Turner, Charles Lockwood and their wives are buried. There were all lifelong friends and cadets at the Academy together and made this special arrangement while they were still living. These guys were all class and heroes compared to McCain.
I’ll remember that, and thank you. Point stands though!
I don’t know but McCain finished near the bottom of the Class of ‘58 so it would be fitting that each year McCain grave will be visited by a dozen or so midshipmen sweating out their final grades. The academies are full of rituals like that.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
