Democrats' acknowledgement of the U.S. embassy opening in Jerusalem Monday was virtually non-existent. The Times of Israel reported that no Democratic members of Congress attended the ceremony.
Former Sen. Joe Lieberman, told them he was “surprised” that “no sitting legislators from his former party were in Jerusalem for the embassy dedication.”
“I hope that the Democratic members had [scheduling] conflicts and they had to be somewhere else,” he said. “I hope that they don’t see this as some kind of pro-Trump rally in Jerusalem. It’s not. Its a pro-US-Israel friendship-partnership-alliance rally. And it’s celebrating the strength of our relationship, which has been always bipartisan.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said that “every member of Congress had the option before them to come and be here. There was no way on earth we could have inaugurated this embassy without my being here to celebrate it. It’s too important.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), though not in attendance, did have some rare words of praise for President Trump Monday over the move of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
“In a long overdue move, we have moved our embassy to Jerusalem,” Schumer said in a statement. “Every nation should have the right to choose its capital. I sponsored legislation to do this two decades ago, and I applaud President Trump for doing it.”
According to some other Israeli news outlets, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) was in attendance at the ceremony. However, a reporter with the Associated Press says Deutch did not attend.
This post will be updated if Rep. Deutch’s attendance is confirmed.
At least they weren’t there booing God and Israel.
NYS is watching.
HOPEFULLY the republicans will use this during hte primaries to pound the democrats with constantly- make hte world see what horrible creeps the democrats really are!
I believe so too.
And the Democrats will still get 75% of the Jewish vote
They are petulant children embarrassing their supporters who care about Israel.
“Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), though not in attendance, did have some rare words of praise for President Trump Monday over the move of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.”
As a non-practicing Jew, his attendance would have been unseemly!
Yet Jews will continue to overwhelmingly support the very party that would turn their back on them in a second.
American Jews don’t care about Israel. It’s American Christians that do.
i wonder how many lib Jewish ppl skipped it as well.
#hypocrites
#mazel
Jews didn’t leave the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party left them.
Yep. Jews are nearly suicidal in their devotion to the socialists who hate them.
Doesn’t matter if they don’t vote for us. We’ll continue to defend them anyway.
One Israeli news outlet has reported that Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch (Fla.) was part of the American delegation attending the dedication ceremony.
Because American Jews are different than those who came from Israel..American Jews care about one thing and that is abortion..as far as Israel is concerned that is not even on their radar screen
and Jews will still vote 80% dem.... sad
The article will be updated if the report has been confirmed, according to the author
The Democrats don’t know what’s good.
“And the Democrats will still get 75% of the Jewish vote”
A parallel to the “black vote” syndrome.
