See??? I told you that CO2 was bad for you...
An EMP over the USA would result in the annihilation of any country involved, of that I don’t have any doubt.
However, the nuclear burst is likely going to be at sea level in a port somewhere.
.
In before FR’s horde of EMP-deniers.
(This kinda thread usually brings ‘em out — big time.)
Geez...
If only someone would have had $4 Trillion to spend on “shovel ready” projects to fix all of this stuff...
WHERE THE **** DID THEY SPEND $4 TRILLION?????

It surely does bring them out. They’ll disappear once President Trump addresses the situation and proceeds to harden the grid.
The report warned that the type of conditions spelled out by Pry could last a long time due to the difficulties fixing the electric grid, which many have testified would be fairly cheap to harden against an attack.
OK. Then the power companies should take the necessary preventive measures. They sure won't make any money in an EMP blackout. If the feds have to help fund it ... so be it. Protection of our country and civilization from attacks and invasions is a core function of government.
Within 3 days, the populations of the major cities will be moving out. They will be on foot, rabble, marching out into the country side and suburbs.
In three weeks, 90% of those with cardiac issues, diabetes and other diseases that require high medical needs will be dead or dying.
Those with proper prepping will have arms, food and water to survive at least three months. They will have to fight off the city folk for resources.
The “One Minute After” series of books is well written and pretty factual about what will happen...
“An EMP over the U.S. “
It would take several dozen such explosions to come close to the effect described.
Your to late!
That series of book is an absolute load of horseshit and nothing else written to gain some attention for some lobbyists to get some more dough for their “research”
A major solar event could potentially cause some huge damage and chaos and death but not to the extent of what they are hyping.

I pray fervently that he will. But a Carrington event could occur at almost anytime, so the danger is not limited to a possible nuclear attack.
I am very skeptical of the man-made EMP threat. Even so, the threat of a natural solar event is very real—something akin to the 1859 Carrington Event would be devastating today. It doesn’t seem like it would be all that expensive to harden critical electrical infrastructure or build in redundancies, so it may be worthwhile even if the EMP threat is bogus.
As I understand it, the difficulty in replacing large transformers is the key problem, and the Strategic Transformer Reserve seems like a good step to address that and I think it is already underway.

Or one huge solar flare. Then the side facing the sun is affected.
Has anyone asked Obama when he and his Iranian buddies plan to carry this out?

Even if it did only ten or twenty per cent of what the article predicts, it could be a major disaster not only for the USA but also for the whole world’s economy. Might take decades to recover.
