~ Happy Mother's Day 2018!! ~
Proverbs 31:10-31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and no evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants'; ship; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices;
Who from our mother’s arms
Hath blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours today.

Treasure in Heaven
May 13, 2018
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:21
When I was growing up, my two sisters and I liked to sit side-by-side on top of my mothers large cedar-lined chest. My mom kept our wool sweaters in it and handiwork that was embroidered or crocheted by my grandmother. She valued the contents of the chest and relied on the pungent odor of the cedar wood to discourage moths from destroying what was inside.
Most earthly possessions can easily be destroyed by insects or rust, or can even be stolen. Matthew 6 encourages us to place a special focusnot on things that have a limited lifespan but on those that have eternal value. When my mom died at fifty-seven, she had not accumulated a lot of earthly possessions, but I like to think about the treasure she stored up in heaven (vv. 1920).
I recall how much she loved God and served Him in quiet ways: caring faithfully for her family, teaching children in Sunday school, befriending a woman abandoned by her husband, comforting a young mother who had lost her baby. And she prayed. . . . Even after she lost her sight and became confined to a wheelchair, she continued to love and pray for others.
Our real treasure isnt measured in what we accumulatebut in what or whom we invest our time and our passions. What treasures are we storing up in heaven by serving and following Jesus?
Dear Father, help me to choose to invest my life in things that are eternal.
Our real wealth is what we invest for eternity.
According to Jesus in todays passage, we are to store up for [ourselves] treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:20). What are these treasures? Theyre the blessings that will be ours in heaven (1 Peter 1:4) but that we get a preview of in this life when we follow Christ. William Hendriksen, in his commentary on Matthew, lists many of those Jesus Himself described: Our standing with God as being fully pardoned (Matt. 6:14), answered prayer (7:7), the enrolment of our names in heaven (Luke 10:20), the Fathers love (John 16:27), a welcome not only to the mansions of heaven but to the Saviors own heart (14:2, 3). [We also have a] life that will never end (John 3:16) . . . a hand out of which the Good Shepherds sheep will never be snatched (John 10:28) . . . [and] a love from which we shall never be separated (Rom. 8:39).

Today was so rainy and cold that it felt like February instead of May!
However, I did get to help one of my sisters open up her camper which was located on the most battered shore of MA. We didn’t know what to expect...flodd damage, or lots of mice evidence (Eywew) but we were pleasantly surprised. New electrical connections and water hook-ups, no mice, and just a little cleanup and sanitizing the fridge. Then we wen t out for chowder and scallops and crabcakes! Oh My! mmmm mmmm mmmm

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

Howdy, PRO.
Guess there's no need to ask if you had a good day. LOL! Looks like y'all had a blast!
I remembered to take the camera to the museum today to snap pix of those gorgeous wooden helicopters. I wish I knew who carved them but there's nothing that says who it was. They did a fabulous job!

Jim Brickman - A Mother’s Day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk5J_YE-_yM
Mom and Dad were reading in the den
Mom said, “I’m gonna go to bed, it’s late”
She went to the kitchen to make three school lunches
Another night in a mother’s day
Put the cereal bowls out for breakfast
Set the coffeemaker for 6 a.m.
Sewed a loose button on brother’s shirt for him
Checked sister’s math homework, sent a note to the teacher
Added eggs to the grocery list
Started a load of wash, made sure the doors were locked
Put water in the puppy’s dish
Wrote a check to the children’s piano teacher
Turned the dishwasher on
And Dad called out, “Honey, what’s takin’ you so long?”
Have I ever thanked you
For everything you’ve done?
Now all that I can say is
“I love you, Mom”
Hung some art on the refrigerator door
And headed up the stairs
Kissed all the children and helped sister comb
Her wavy golden hair
Washed her make-up off and turned on the bath
Lay down in the moon’s soft light and kissed Dad goodnight
Have I ever thanked you
For everything you’ve done?
Now all that I can say is
“I love you, Mom”
Thank you for nursin’ me
Through all those colds and fevers
Thank you for believin’ in me
When they were no other believers
And it’s never too late to say
“I love you, Mom”

Oooooooh, that “not too hot” sounds so nice! That kind of weather makes for a great day to get outside to do things.
It was sunny here but it WAS too hot. The small room at the museum doesn’t have AC though the back room, which is much larger, does. Unfortunately, I work in the smaller room. I’m a bit limp tonight but it was a great day. Had a lot of folks come by to check the place out.
Now just sitting here kinda in a stupor. LOL
