Sarah Palin said Thursday that Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) admission that he regrets picking her as his running mate in his failed 2008 presidential bid is "like a perpetual gut-punch."
The former Republican vice presidential nominee said the senator's recent remarks were "not what Sen. McCain has told me all these years, as he's apologized to me repeatedly for the people who ran his campaign," she told the Daily Mail before speaking at a pro-Trump PAC fundraiser.
In his upcoming memoir, The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations, the 81-year-old senator laments not selecting former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) as his vice presidential candidate.
McCain still gives Palin high marks for her work on his campaign.
"I attribute a lot of what we're hearing and reading regarding McCain's statements to his ghostwriter or ghostwriters," Palin told the Daily Mail, saying she would have to hear from McCain herself.
McCain is currently at home in Arizona where he is receiving treatment for brain cancer, but remains a strong voice in the GOP and the Senate where he often criticizes the Trump administration.
McDemocRat is a loser .. Total McTraitor ...
There is no question McCain is liberal. Conservatives should have abstained from voting for him a long time ago to let him lose, and allow an open seat in subsequent elections to make way for a more conservative senator.
If she has believed McCain was a stand up guy for all these years, I have to question her judgment. Other than that, I think she’s great.
Very well said by someone not a fan of Sarah Palin, D1.
Bump!
If it had been Lieberman/McCain, I might have thought it had some potential. With Judas at the top, even Sarah was a non-starter. I went third party.
Most good, sensible people try to spend their last days with grace, dignity, and magnanimity. This lout McCain is turning his last 15 minutes of news headlines to make political hits. He forbids the POTUS from his funeral. He trashes his running mate.
What a petty, little lout this guy has proven to be. Just what to expect from all liberal RINO's.
I’ve at least been to SERE school where every man learns that every man has a breaking point.
Every man.
I’d be happy to show you yours.
Sarah,
Stay classy. Just ignore him. You’re a far better human being than McCain has ever been.
Im sorry, Sarah. Im grateful to him for exposing us to you. I remember the first time I heard your name. It was one night when a fellow FReeper was trying to figure out who was meeting McCain at the convention, and he found a plane going from Alaska at just the right time. And I was on the phone with someone who said Sarah Palin! He figured McCain was picking you, and he was right.
We said the exact same thing when we read it.
Over half the people we know feel the same way.
If Palin and Songbird changed places on the ticket, we would have won.
Thanks Jazusamo.
America (and Sarah) dodged a bullet with McCain’s loss. We survived Obama. A McCain presidency would have been the end. Only vote I ever regretted. I voted for Sarah; should have sat on my hands.
“I believe Tom Dewey later said that he regretted choosing Governor Earl Warren of CA in 1948. “
And I believe Ike said his pick of Warren for the supreme court was his biggest mistake.
Most men daydream about being awesome, beautiful women, and money.
McCain daydreams about stabbing people in the back.
He is feral.
She should consider the source and shrug.
She was a decoy, but lo and behold, people rightly voted for her over Jihadi Johnny.
“Sarah, if not for you, I would never have voted for this loser.”
Same, and I am quite sure we number in the millions.
This.
Thank you Sarah.
May God bless.
