Though I don’t think they’d agree, it is certainly in the best interest of Democrats for this partisan witch hunt to end quietly.

At their very best (but extremely rare) they are right when republicans are corrupt and just asking for discosure and justice.
Second best (and much more common) they are delusional about what’s really best for the country but they have a very partisan slant about what that is.
Most commonly though, they just don’t give a rip what’s best for the country. They want what they want, politically, and sometimes they fake some degree of objectivity but they are completely in the tank. These duplicitous people will flip the script of you change out (D)s and (R)s.
