ALBANY (WRGB) - Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke will visit Albany Wednesday. He is the keynote speaker at the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police's 2018 Vendor Expo at the Capital Center.
Clarke's visit has caused some outrage in the area. He has stirred up some controversy during his career for his vocal criticism of the black lives matter movement. He's also a spokesperson for a pro-President Trump Super Pac.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan tweeted about the visit saying in part "While I fully support the First Amendment rights granted to us in our Constitution, its unfortunate that NYSACOP would invite such a divisive keynote speaker to this event." She goes on to say "I join the voices of those who condemn Mr. Clarke's hostile, racist, and offensive rhetoric."
The Citizen Action of New York Group started an online petition. As of Wednesday morning it has nearly 5,000 signatures.
The Citizen Action group says Clarke's visit will increase tension between police and members of the community.
The Citizen Action group is planning a protest from 11:00am - 2:00pm outside the Capital Center.

Bottom line, more proof of media leaving out relevant facts in news stories as well as the ongoing assault on the 1st amendment an free speech by Left Wing Groups - which is the real story here.

I’ve gone to a speaking engagement when the sheriff was the keynote speaker he speaks clearly he has everybody’s attention in the room he’s got common sense he is probably a smart Feller I like his style.
All the left does is protest, raise money on anger and dollop that money to leverage wealth and power. That’s their scam cycle and political panhandling.
