For seven years, a handful of homebuilders offered solar as an optional item to buyers willing to pay extra to go green.
Now, California is on the verge of making solar standard on virtually every new home built in the Golden State.

This new regulation is expected to add up to $30k to the price of a new home. On the bright side, it will help the existing home resale market.

Solar panels on a roof are a danger to firemen in case of a house fire That should lower the value of any home with solar panels on the roof.

I strongly expect that firefighters needing access to the roof will employ a “solar cell removal device”, aka “axe” or “Halligan” as needed to ensure their safety.

Higher priced and higher taxable.
Which commissioner’s brother in law is in the solar panel business?
I have a huge tree with branches over the roof protecting it from the heat of the summer sun. Guess they’d make me cut down the tree which sort of defeats the purpose.

I wonder if CA would allow a $30K tax write off? 100%. Then it would prove that they are willing to put their tax money where their mouth is....
After all, it is to help with global warming.

Lol. Ya. Wonder when people will start putting batteries in their basement. I bet that a bank of batteries can take out a whole house if the fire is hot enough. Comparable to a gas explosion only hotter. Lithium burns very hot.
