Repeal of the EPA regulations mandating unwanted portable gas container nozzles
Petitions.org ^ | 5/7/2018 | Self

I hate the gas cans the way they are made with a "spill-proof" nozzle and no vent hole. The first thing I did with my new EPA-compliant can is destroy the anti-spill crap and drill a vent hole in them, and plug the vent hole with a screw. Please sign my petition and share it on your social media pages.

NUKE THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL EPA.

The Constitution gives the feds no sweeping authority to regulate the environment.

The environment is a states' issue.

Are people with old cans in violation of the law and facing a federal charge for using one at a gas station?

Are people at risk of a federal “trafficking” charge for selling an old gas can from paw paw’s garage and yard sale?

I think the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is the source of the Regis that brought about the vaporless nozzles and gas cans.

Me.. I just use water jug nozzles that I get off eBay. They even come with vent plugs.

I spill so much more gas with the new design than I ever did with the old ones it’s not even close.

And it takes five to ten times as long to pour a gallon, so how many fumes escape in comparison to the old ones.

The whole thing is nonsense.

I can’t find one that fits Briggs and Stratton cans. And it adds more money to fix them.

I never did figure out how they’re supposed to work, since I spill half of the gasoline on the ground. Fortunately my gasoline doesn’t evaporate, so I have time to call a clean-up company and not destroy the environment...but it is not cheap to clean up.

Oh well, I guess they know what they’re doing. LOL.

Thankfully, I have a lifetime supply of the old ones around...

Did you ever see the WWII picture of the GIs speed fueling a tank?
They had a trough that held about 5- 5gallon jerry cans. They opened them and just set them in the trough upside down and the gasoline poured into the trough that drained into the tank’s fuel tank.

That’s how I fuel my lawn mower.

Go old skool

No nozzle, but a funnel.

You use a tank as a lawnmower?

Gas can vents are cheap on Ebay.

I did, too, until my mower caught fire and burned the shed down.

No, I put 5 jerry cans in a trough that drains into my riding mowers fuel tank. The tank only holds five gallons but I know it’s full after all the excess flows over.

Yup. I've been filling gas engines for thirty years, and never spilled a drop that I can remember, until I had to use a gas can designed by a politician.

After spilling on the garage floor, my hands, my gloves, my shoes, and the outside of the engine, I finally got a big funnel, took the damn spout off, and dumped fuel directly from the open gas can into the gas tank through the funnel.

Of course I have to do this outside so fumes don't build up in the garage.

Infuriating, ridiculous. Far more dangerous than the old, simple spout and cap.

You shouldn’t have to pay to fix something that is screwed up by government regulations.

Sometimes you don't have to tilt at windmills. They are less than a buck each and they work great. I bought a bag of ten. That should last me about 40 years.
