No big surprises here. This follows a well-known strategic path of North Korean brinksmanship even to the precipice point of hot shooting and in most cases, until now the USG has been the one to blink--for fear of that shooting... so it is no surprise they are resorting to it again since it usually works for them.

Time to stop talking about Nobel prizes and get North Korea off the front page and simply send them a message that Trump will not be there until their seconds have worked out the major components of a deal which boils down to they first throw their weapons in the sea and then we lift sanctions in that order. Until that time we keep ratcheting up sanctions pressure. Call us when you’re ready, Kim

The US must not lift sanctions to bring them to the table.

But, nothing drives us to immediately start excoriating them over their murderous system of government.

That can come later.

Additionally I am not opposed to the South and North freely trading while these discussions are underway, so long as there’s NO OTHER COUNTRY in the mix.

North and South only.

Let Norklandia see the benefit of eliminating the DMZ.

The NORKs need this far more than we do. Stick to your guns and let the ROKs play “good cop.”

I wonder how long after the State department started working with North Korea on arrangements for the heads of state meeting that these ‘preconditions’ started percolating. Perhaps I’m just a bit jaded, but it would not surprise me in the slightest if the changes were suggested by Foggy Bottom.

I hope you all are safe.

Trump has been very cautious in his public statements.

No concessions and no negotiations without proof of dismantlement. Food, water treatment technology, and medicine is all they will get to start with. Following this, depending upon inspections and weapon destruction, we will talk about returning Japan’s kidnapped citizens. Only after a joint U.S./U.N./S.Korean inspection program throughout all sites that verifies weapon technology destruction will we talk about electricity and other issues they suffer from.

The Japanese are really counting on Trump to deal with their abducted citizens and I hope Trump includes that issue as part of any “deals” as I cannot imagine the horror of being imprisoned in that country for those abducted and their families never knowing what happened to them. I feel we should include the concentration camps where they brutalize and murder people. This monstrous regime must be pressured to end it’s massive human rights abuses.

Scott Adams predicted all this; that there would be a walk away or a threatened walk away.

We could have named that tune in one note! Should surprise nobody!

I actually predicted this two weeks ago. This is about bribes. This little butcher is a psychopathic killer. His people are totally expendable. 1 year ago this week he had Otto Wermbier beaten to death and sent him hone dead. Trump is to be commended and we could not have a better realist as president but this is so simple to see, Kim wants more bribes like were paid by Clinton and bush and obozo. It is desperately important that trump NOT go unless a deal is already SIGNED!! He knows this. They will announce a date and place and postpone it for “further negotiations”. This will go on for years. It is my form belief that kim is playing games. The three Korean American prisoners will require a bribe paid to Kim. I dont think Trump will pay bribes to that bastard.

Impossible! The Q-cult says that Kim met secretly with POTUS Trump in the Forbidden City back in Nov. 2017 and that the deal is already completely done.

/s

Well it’s not exactly sarcasm, they really do believe/say that, but I find it just a wee little bit hard to swallow.

Media is doing all it can to insure this deal fails - then they’ll blame it on Trump.

If successful, they will credit Kerry and Obama, and S Korea and China

That’s cool...not a word about “human rights”.It’s up to the citizens of the “DPRK” to fight for their rights. As for sanctions...perhaps a slight loosening of some minor point can happen at the beginning as a gesture. But any further loosening only happens as a reward for *verified* steps on their part.
