The Heritage Foundation will defend Facebooks legal right as a private company to censor content and will oppose attempts to regulate the tech giant, according to the think tanks senior research fellow for technology, Klon Kitchen. In an interview with Breitbart News, Kitchen argued that as a private company, Facebook has the right to censor content at will, although he strongly cautioned the social network against a censorious approach.

“Do not however, use my portion of the airwaves in order to censor me.”
Another note: At least 90% of Facebook data traverses PRIVATE fiber which is essentially infinite. And has nothing to do with the regulated, finite airwaves.
I’ve wondered the same thing.
Why can’t Breitbart and folks like Hannity and Rush invest in/start a similar site called FreeNote, or something?
Freedom of the press is limited to those who own one.
I’ve seem more supposed “conservatives” whining like little babies in the last few weeks than I ever thought I would.
Zuckerberg can damned well do anything he wants with his creation unless and/or until I am forced to use it.
I dont understand.
How does defending the right of a private business to be as stupid as they think they can get away with, all of a sudden a “bad” thing?
Actual conservatives would tell FB to screw off, raise capital to start a new social media platform, open to the public, and have however man or few “terms of use” clauses they desire to outmaneuver Facebook.
It isnt like Facebook was the first platform. There was My Space, Flickr, Livejournal, and a few others. There can easily be another.
Isn’t that what Free Republic is?
People who don’t read and understand that stuff deserve the screwing they get. Just like anyone who signs any document they don’t understand.
No amount of money is going to be able to create a competitive YouTube. There are already competitors but they are small fries and they are echo chambers where only conservatives go to hear conservative thoughts. Conservatives want to reach out to moderates and liberals to get people to change their minds.
As others have stated YouTube and Facebook are guilty of false advertising: they claim that anyone who creates non-violent content can publish on their sites but this is a bald faced lie. So even if you support YouTubes right to be jerks, they need to publicly proclaim that they are being jerks.
Doesn't require money, just ideas. No amount of Facebook money is going to generate great new sharing solutions. Of some amount of Facebook's billions can buy those great solutions from whoever develops them. Hopefully that person will be a conservative and use his billions from Facebook to defend freedom.
The alternative proposed by the OP is to put the government on the side of Facebook, like they were with Bell and other local monopolies for decades. They will use their regulatory power to squelch competition epsecially from conservatives.
What are you talking about?? Are you saying that if I have a restaurant, or bar, I don't have "the right" to tell patrons if they voted for Hillary they will not be served? If a person walks in my bar with a big support Planned Parenthood tee shirt, I'm not allowed to deny service?
Some of you folks really are confused about what a "right" actually is.
“YouTube and Facebook have become monopolies. “
No they haven’t.
You can use other sites. If people are too lazy to utilize other sites because they aren’t as “fun”, that is their problem.
It’s like saying Disney World is a monopoly because Six Flags doesn’t have the cooler attractions.
“No amount of money is going to be able to create a competitive YouTube.”
Yeah, because YT has always been a money-loser for Google. So you had better be ready to invest and lose cash to make an alternative. That’s all there is to it.
“There are already competitors but they are small fries and they are echo chambers where only conservatives go to hear conservative thoughts.”
Well...ok? You work with what you’ve got, not cry to the state to take over and rule existing websites.
No one said it was going to be easy.
” Conservatives want to reach out to moderates and liberals to get people to change their minds.”
So your point is? Is our side that weak?
Let me see your photos and videos. No, it is not the same thing.
They are monopolies.
Yes.
We have little or no power in the academies, the MSM, the entertainment industry, and corporate boardrooms.
Yes we seem to have a monopoly on political talk shows on radio and some success on Fox, but that's about it.
Call the Koch brothers and tell them to start up a competitor to YouTube.
Public outrage, expressed by good old American free enterprise, should be the way Zuckerberg is motivated to stop censoring conservatives. Much as I would LOVE to have the law broken over his head, that’s the slippery slope that would come back and bite conservatives in not only the butt, but everywhere high and low, in between. If conservatives would find some way to make his bank account suffer, the little puke would sing another tune.

It’s better without the photos and videos and the silly stuff and not using real names. If you like all that stuff, there is a Free Republic group on Facebook. It has a lot of good articles of interest to conservatives.
FakeBook doubles down with Ace Holder.
