Waiting in Anticipation
May 1, 2018
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm 130:6
Every May Day (May 1) in Oxford, England, an early morning crowd gathers to welcome spring. At 6:00, the Magdalen College Choir sings from the top of Magdalen Tower. Thousands wait in anticipation for the dark night to be broken by song and the ringing of bells.
Like the revelers, I often wait. I wait for answers to prayers or guidance from the Lord. Although I dont know the exact time my wait will end, Im learning to wait expectantly. In Psalm 130 the psalmist writes of being in deep distress facing a situation that feels like the blackest of nights. In the midst of his troubles, he chooses to trust God and stay alert like a guard on duty charged with announcing daybreak. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning (v. 6).
The anticipation of Gods faithfulness breaking through the darkness gives the psalmist hope to endure even in the midst of his suffering. Based on the promises of God found throughout Scripture, that hope allows him to keep waiting even though he has not yet seen the first rays of light.
Be encouraged if you are in the middle of a dark night. The dawn is comingeither in this life or in heaven! In the meantime, dont give up hope but keep watching for the deliverance of the Lord. He will be faithful.
Please bring light to my darkness. Open my eyes to see You at work and to trust You. Im grateful that You are faithful, Father.
God can be trusted in the light and in the dark.
In Psalm 130:56 the word wait(s) appears five times. In the Lords development of our personal faith, He often delays an answer to prayer to deepen our trust in Him. At times this can be perplexing. Asking for His intervention for a wayward child or for healing of a painful illness often carries a sense of urgency. We pray, Lord, I need your help now! But waiting on the Lord takes discipline and develops a perseverance in our faith that only steadfastness can yield. Abram waited years for Isaac, the child of promise, to finally be given to him. And this was through Sarahs unlikely conception when she was advanced in years and beyond the age of childbearing. Yet Gods sovereign hand was orchestrating these events. Abram waited on God in prayer, and eventually God granted him offspring too numerous to count (Genesis 12; 16:10; 17:119).
What prayers are you waiting for God to answer? In what ways might your heavenly Father be developing your faith as you wait?

Howdy, Kathy.
Things go ok at work today? Have they found someone to take Cora’s place or is everything dumped on the three of you?

An ad is out there...who knows how long it will take.
We will be getting some “inside” help from the billing folks, but they have to be trained, but I think any help will be good.
It’s been a REALLY long and busy day. Not near anything to work on tonight, so I will get a couple threads ready for later this week.
A good day for you? Sunshine? No sun here.

Yes, ANY help is good. Keeping all appendages crossed for luck that someone will reply to the ad SOON.
No homework tonight? That’ll be a nice change? Doesn’t happen often, does it?
It felt like Spring today! And it was sunny! We even had to turn the A/C on this afternoon because the house got a bit toasty. Going to be nice all week. WOOHOO!!

Hey radu!
I HOPE I got everything, LOL.
I was a shopping fool today, made 4 stops including a car wash, and was done by 10 AM, so my day went well. Just vegging now.
Howz about your day? Full moon still driving the kittehs nutso?

I hope you got everything too! I reckon you’ll find out when you reach for something and it’s not there. LOL!
Whew, you must have gotten an EARLY start to do all that and be done by 10:00.
I took Dexter to the vet to get the stitches out of his ear. Also took Sasha because she hadn’t been eating much over the weekend. I looked in her mouth and saw a nasty tooth so figured it needed to be pulled. He went ahead and knocked her out to do the deed while I waited and after cleaning her teeth, saw the “bad” one was fine after all. But the gum above it had gotten inflamed. She has an antibiotic to take the next several days but has already eaten a decent supper. Looks like we’re good to go.
And yes, the full moon STILL has them wound up. I’m getting hoarse from yelling, “STOP IT!!” every couple of minutes. LOL

Howdy, LUV.
Has the wind calmed down a bit by now or is it still whipping up dust?
Just enough breeze here to make it comfortable to be outside. Without it, we’d have been a bit soppy with sweat. We aren’t used to 80 degrees. LOL

Yes, the wind finally died down and all that rain and hail they predicted melted away into nothing here. As usual.
Glad it’s warm there! It does take a little getting used to, huh! A little breeze is a good thing and goes a long way in keeping you cool.

Good that the wind died down but bad that you didn’t get any rain. Maybe you’ll get some later this week when a system blows up over that part of the country. They were talking about it on the Nashville weather report this evening.
It certainly DOES take a little getting used to! LOL! It was decent the past couple of days but our lows were in the 30s the last two nights. I THINK that’s finally over but we’ve thought that before.

I’m not totally giving up hope, but we have seen those chances come and go while we’re still dry as a bone too many times this year. Been 4 1/2 months with about .5 of an inch, if that.
Crazy that it gets so chilly at night there after the nice warm-up during the day. Maybe it’s better this way instead of instant heat way too soon.
Oh! The GGO cam has focused on a new hollow tree with actual owlies in it. No babies yet that I can tell. I’m happy!
