In a new book, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) writes that his battle with brain cancer has given him a sense of liberation to vote and speak his mind.
This is my last term, McCain writes in his upcoming book The Restless Wave, which he co-authored with former adviser Mark Salter. An excerpt of the book was posted Monday on Apple News.
If I hadnt admitted that to myself before this summer, a stage 4 cancer diagnosis acts as ungentle persuasion, McCain continues. Im freer than colleagues who will face the voters again. I can speak my mind without fearing the consequences much. And I can vote my conscience without worry. I dont think Im free to disregard my constituents wishes, far from it. I dont feel excused from keeping pledges I made. Nor do I wish to harm my partys prospects. But I do feel a pressing responsibility to give Americans my best judgment.

Probably true but McCain really didn’t want the job.
All he wanted was power and he got it if he won or lost.
The book ought to be entitled “One Last Backstab”. Just when I thought McCain couldn’t top his series of betrayals, he does it again. With friends like this...
“One of the Keating Five tries to guilt trip AZ voters so his wife replaces him...and then flips to RAT”
You are free from prosecution by your impending meeting with the Grim Reaper.
I disagree. Even McCain, after picking Palin, had a good shot of winning, until his performance when the economy imploded. Then he deferred to Obama on the solution, then told all of us he would be a fine President, he undercut Palin and yelled at his supporter for using Obama’s full name. Which Obama always did once he was elected. He lost by 5 points or so, and all of those came around that time. And no telling how bad the fraud was.
A good candidate could have won by a lot. Obama was so outside the mainstream, so radical, tied to muslims and communists and America haters, all anyone needed to do was hammer that all day every day. And have a decent, market oriented approach to the collapse of the market. But, even McCain could have won, had he done things differently those last two months.
McCain to the American people:
...to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee.
Check YOUR facts. Bush did nothing abut the sub prime mess. Nothing.
Revised title for the book: Chin Dribbles from a Songbird
How can this guy be considered a “co-author” when he likely is brain-addled from his malignancy chewing on his stunted brain. He probably contributed one sentence along the lines of “I am a loser...”
He has declined to distinguish the actions of our government from the crimes of despotic ones, McCain writes. The appearance of toughness, or a reality show facsimile of toughness, seems to matter more than any of our values.
But then turns around and says this:
Humility is the self-knowledge that you possess as much inherent dignity as anyone else, and not one bit more. Among its other virtues, humility makes for more productive politics.
That describes you to a tee, McCain. You think you are better than most, and you present a false facade of being tough. You have treated despotic regimes with kid gloves, and even embraced them as you would a loved one.
Shut up Juan. No one cares about what you think anymore.
Mayo—the best and ritziest healthcare provider in the world—can’t save you. The Grim Reaper is licking his chops, give him his due.
Do the right thing and resign from the Senate TODAY, NOW!!! You act like your Senate seat is your own personal possession. It isn’t!!!!
When you die John, Im going to hire an entire Home Depot parking lot to piss on your grave!
They will have to stand in a very long line.
Then show some dignity and don't.
Still, I get the feeling you're going to viscously attack President Trump, right?
That harms your party, yes it most certainly does.
John McCain was always going to die. Now he is going to tell the truth a bit. Hmm
Right! He is essentially telling the world he has been a duplicitous ass his entire time as a politician (like we didn’t already know that). I guess that’s something to say in his favor even if it is a backhanded compliment.
Snap!
I might leaf through it in the Dollar Store to laugh and jeer, but not to buy it.
The bastard can’t be any more annoying than usual!!!
And yet they kept electing him!!!
Yep. "War Hero Conservative" is played heavily while electioneering/pandering and too many people buy it without hesitation.
I tried, I tried to tell people.
An addled brain speaks the same betrayals as always, but calls it new betrayals.
