Kim Jong Un agrees to end war, agrees to denuclearization of Korean Peninsula
NBC News ^ | April 27, 2018 | Mac William Bishop, Stella Kim and Alastair Jamieson

Posted on 04/27/2018 4:38:20 AM PDT by deks

The leaders of North and South Korea signed a historic declaration Friday pledging "no more war" and a common goal of "complete denuclearization" on the Korean Peninsula.

The countries, which technically remain in a state of war, heralded the deal as part of "a new era of peace" after a historic summit.

North Korea's Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in also vowed to "cease all hostile acts" and to "transform the Demilitarized Zone into a peace zone." The two leaders embraced, and Moon said he would visit Pyongyang in the fall.

Now of course, the media will start saying that North Korea never really was a threat.

Well, we’ll see the details in the coming weeks and months. You seem convinced they’re bluffing, but the unprecedented nature of the heads of state meeting at the DMZ belies your assertion.

Also, the Iranian Deal can only really be scrapped ceremoniously, which is why Trump hasn’t already cancelled it. Iran got all their money up front, and we didn’t get any snap inspections so they probably have centrifuges spinning as we speak.

Kim knew Trump had no problem of pressing His Big Button. Not long ago the left were running around telling everyone to practice hiding under desks.

NBC has changed the article title slightly since I posted it, taking out “agrees to end war”.

Now...

Kim Jong Un agrees to denuclearization of Korean Peninsula — The leaders of North and South Korea also pledged to “cease all hostile acts” amid a “new era of peace” after a historic summit.

Someone correct my history as I am sure I am forgetting something.

The Korean war was a UN action, was it not? So to officially end it would take a UN Security Council resolution. That probably would have been given years ago were it not that the US is a permanent member of the Security Council. So I think SK and NK cant by themselves officially end the war. It will have to have the US get a vote to end the war in the UN Security Council. Is that correct?

China will NOT ALLOW that to happen on their border.

Just like any dictator. Kim wants to stay in power and stay alive. China said you can stay IF you do this. This is all about Trump putting pressure on China to make this happen. It has nothing to do with Kim “seeing the light” so to speak.

It may also have something to do with the collapse of the mountain where all the nuclear tests were done. We may have had something to do with that. We will probably never know.

China does not want US nukes on the Korea peninsula.

“You seem convinced they’re bluffing, but the unprecedented nature of the heads of state meeting at the DMZ belies your assertion.”

You seem to be ignorant. The direct face to face meeting of the heads of state of North and South Korea is NOT unprecedented. It has been done before. And similar declarations have been made before.

I prefer realism and history that reveals the nature of the North Korean regime to false optimism that has no basis in the similar things that have gone on before.

Many here are too focused on “Trump” on this issue, just like too many dumb Dims praised the Obama for the Iran deal. Well it’s not about Trump and not about any “achievement” or legacy of his. It’s about the regime in North Korea. It is the same as it was yesterday and the same as it will be tomorrow. Nothing in it’s history says otherwise and nothing in the recent declarations is “unprecedented”.

To North Korea they are not “bluffing”. The meaning of such things is not the same to them as it is to us. There goals do not change, and whatever they do is just some means to those ends.

Laz, the USA is at a turning point if this turns out to be as big as it seems.

Another turning point could be Kanye West’s love of Trump, with his tens of millions of followers now being prodded to open their eyes. From Trump’s Twitter this morning...

“Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community - Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades - Legacy Stuff! Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history).”

nbc is not only riddled with liars they can't do simple math.

Nearly 65 years after the Korean armistice was signed on July 27, 1953, it appears that a new era of peace is beginning.

it is nearly 68 years imbeciles at nbc.

“he referred to exactly that, saying that their imminent agreement would be worthless unless it was implemented, and that they should not go back to the way it was”

He is telescoping the fact that he will complain that something or other by the U.S. or South Korea means THEY are not living up to the declaration and THAT’s why he will quit honoring it. It’s a repeat of a play we have seen before.

On March 9, 2018 CNN anchor Erin Burnett said :

BURNETT: All right. Well, thanks very much to all of you. Just an extraordinarily evening and of course owning the door to the big question, if President Trump can truly solve this problem, that would be going down as a great President, and there’s no way around that. That is the reality here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s not a quote from NBC. I wrote that sentence.
July 27, 2018 will be the 65th anniversary of The Korean War Armistice Agreement.
I read a few website with comments. The liberals were claiming only the two Korea’s deserve any credit. They said a person has to be insane to give Trump any credit.
Liberals are nuts.
