House Speaker Paul Ryan has forced out the House chaplain, Reverend Patrick Conroy.
Conroy had served as the chambers chaplain since 2011 but offered his resignation last week at Ryans urging.
Conroys resignation letter said he was offering to step down at Ryans request, calling his seven years of House service one of the great privileges of my life.
Ryan spokeswoman Ashlee Strong would not reveal the speakers reasons for forcing Conroy out. A top Democrat, Rep. Joe Crowley of New York, said he believes it was because of a prayer Conroy gave during last falls tax debate urging that lawmakers not pick winners and losers but spread its benefits equitably.
Strong said that was not the reason.

Sounds like the guy was an SJW and this was the right call by Ryan.
I’m sure there is a videotape somewhere.
“Conroy is a Roman Catholic priest from the Jesuit order.”
That’s enough for me. Being RC is neither here nor there. But the Jesuits need to be suppressed (again).
Yep, could be.
There are some religious people, who profess great faith, who hold leftist political views.
And they talk of how Jesus said “blessed are the peacemakers” and how Jesus said for us to take care of the poor. They interpret scripture and religious teachings, to opine that we need pacifism and socialism, to live out one’s faith.
Not a fan of Ryan but if the guy was a typical Jesuit, they are openly even worse.
I’m Catholic & I hate the Jesuits of today. They’ve been banned as an order at least three times in the last two centuries by Popes who were fed up with their troublemaking.
Today’s Jevvies regard Jesus as a bearded hippie revolutionary in sandals, which view hasn’t changed since Vatican II more than a half century ago.
Jesuits are the Owners of the Molestation Scams. Yes, I am a Catholic.
I was educated by Jesuits I college and one of my sons in high school. In my experience 90% of them have strong political views and 100% of those are left wing hacks, including Francis. Theyre subversive of the faith and proud of it.
Ryan was right to do this. The priest was a very partisan Dem, and also went way overboard in inviting Muslim clergy in to do some of his job (that is, open sessions, etc.).
