Attorney General Jeff Sessions has decided against recusing himself from the investigation into President Donald Trumps personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, but will consider stepping back from specific questions tied to the probe, according to a person familiar with the matter.
By contrast, Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election thats now led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a decision that angered Trump and left Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in charge of the inquiry.

Sessions, who was a top adviser to Trumps presidential campaign, announced in March 2017 that he had decided he should steer clear of any matters arising from the campaigns for president. Trump has called Sessions weak for doing so and said he never would have named him as attorney general had he known the recusal would follow. Entitled to Briefings
By staying involved in the Cohen probe, Sessions is entitled to briefings on the status of the investigation, which is being conducted by the U.S. Attorneys Office of the Southern District of New York. That could put Sessions in the position of being asked by Trump, who strongly condemned the FBI raid on his longtime lawyer, to divulge information about the Cohen investigation.
Sessions could also weigh in on specific decisions by prosecutors, including whether to pursue subpoenas and indictments. The attorney general may be asked about his role in the Cohen investigation when he testifies before congressional panels on Wednesday and Thursday.
The investigation into Cohens finances and past work was opened based in part on a referral from Mueller.
The Justice Department declined to comment specifically about decisions on recusal in the Cohen investigation, saying only that Sessions follows appropriate procedures.

Its obvious what Sessions is and isnt at this point in time.
If he was to float retiring, the DEMs would rush to talk him out of it and boost him up, just like the did with Sen Susan Collins of Maine
The only cases that are pursued aggressively are against Trump and anyone that has helped him along the way.
Its just that simple.

Sadly, it is. He dishonors himself with his inaction and the fetid swamp, that he allows the DOJ to be, continues to deliberately inflict damages to the Republic.
I think this means the Cohen case has absolutely nothing to do with Trump’s campaign and Russia.
Only to about 75% of Freepers.
The rest continue to have blind faith in the man, which is mind boggling, considering the objective evidence to the contrary.
Back in the days of King George, anyone who criticized the king would have a General Warrant issued against him.
What this meant was, the king’s sharpest lawyers would turn their sights on the named target, and dig and dig and dig until they found or created something to charge against him.
General Warrants are unlawful here in America. Or at least they were unlawful, when we were a nation under the Rule of Law.
At this point I’d have to say.. “Jeff Sessions is a PHONY bastard.”
I would like to see Sessions get involved in the Cohen probe by:
1. Admonishing Mueller, the U.S attorney involved and the Judge involved for violating attorney client privilege. Whether cohen is a ‘fixer’ or not, he’s still a lawyer and Trump was his client.
2. Order the return of all equipment and all documents and the destruction of all copies of the seized material.
2. Fire the U.S attorney in charge and name Mueller and his prosecution team as unindicted co-conspirator in the sedition plot against POTUS.
3. Start a RICO investigation into Hillary and others in her circle and who has run interference for her, including her lawyer Kendall and his law firm. A rico investigation would pierce attorney client privilege. Note: Cohen’s and Trump’s attorney / client priviledge was not pierce by any law I know of, it was simply ignored on conjecture of wrong doing.
For the last ten years....both Sessions and Shelby of Alabama...were fake GOP senators. The state apparatus has been built this way by lobbyists, and continues on today. Alabama hasn’t had a real GOP senator since the late 70s with Denton. That’s the sad truth.
So Sessions is going to provide selective support
If he cant do the whole job, he needs to GTFO
He is one of the greatest screw ups ever
Sessions —> Jack booted thuggery
He needs to prove he isn’t.
It was run roughshod on with reference to Hanity.
Why recuse himself if he is asleep all the time...
Correct....
Those who know Sessions need to think about what behavior, investments, etc. he could possibly be compromised by. It truly appears someone has something on him.
Why should he?
Would seem that since Sessions is the top dog, and he didn't recuse himself, he is responsible for this fiasco...
The rest continue to have blind faith in the man, which is mind boggling, considering the objective evidence to the contrary.

Wish fulfillment is a very strong thing. Kind of like Hillary wanting to be President. It warps people.
