We all want to live in a world conducive to human health and safety. The good news is things have been improving for years.
Starting with the big picture, some five decades ago, 45 percent of the worlds population was living in extreme poverty. Today, that number is less than 10 percent. Back then, global life expectancy was 60 years old. It is now around 72, in developed countries, its more than 80. Even in Africa, the most impoverished region of the world, average lifespan has climbed from 47 to 60. The annual death rate of children under five years old has dropped from about 15 percent to under 5 percent, with much of that progress coming in developing countries.
And what about the environment? At the time of the first Earth Day, more than one million individuals worldwide, mainly children, died each year because of pathogens in polluted water. Fortunately, over the past four decades, the portion of the global population with access to improved water sources has jumped from only about 50 percent to more than 90 percent.
In the 1970s, 24 oil spills occurred in oceans on average per year. Since 2000, the average has dipped to three per year, and the quantity of oil spilled has declined by 99 percent.

One day was founded by a freak who tortured two women with electrical wire and soldering guns, the other founded by a freak who murdered his girlfriend and composted her body.

I’m way, way ahead on this trend.
I abandoned Earth Day on the day that it started.
.
That was a good special.
As for the rest of the Earth - I guess they didn't get the memo
I could post another 1000 of images just like this, current as of today, from such garden spots as India, Pakistan and so on. Earth Day truly is a giant anti-Capitalist movement in N/A. The dream of a clean planet is not.

But if we get rid of Erf Day when will I wear my “Justice for Holly Maddux” Pin?
I never celebrated it to begin with. It’s about as useless and earth hour.
Communists are violent murderers. Some things never change.. They just have better PR now.
That planet is on the far side of the sun.
Yup. Posted the other day. Ten most yucky river in the world...... Eight in Asia, 2 in Africa. Who’d a guessed? I suppose we need to pick up the pace.
The entire Green movement is like a watermelon: Green on the outside, Marxist red on the inside.
earthday is a pressure relief valve that allows the envirowackos to pretend to be relevant while causing no real damage
