Rising temperatures, drought, and weather disasters can threaten peoples health. Nobody is exempt. But
Perera: The health of children is disproportionately affected by climate change.
Frederica Perera is director of the Columbia Center for Childrens Environmental Health. She says children are vulnerable because their immune systems are not mature. And, their rapidly growing bodies are more sensitive to damage from disease and environmental contaminants.
In particular, children are more likely than adults to die from diarrheal disease, which is expected to become more common in some areas as the climate warms.
And some children are at more risk than others.
Perera: It is the children living in low income countries and communities who are most affected.
Low-income communities often lack the resources to effectively prevent and treat illness. Whats more, climate change-related food shortages can lead to malnourishment, which puts children at greater risk of other health problems.
To help protect children, Perera says we need to limit global warming by reducing fossil fuel emissions.
Perera: We know how to do this. Means are at hand now and the science supports action now.
We must control your lives...for the children. Yeah, that’s the ticket!
What about women and minorities??!?!? Racism!!! Misogyny!!!
Yup! Since it’s for the chirruns..........I’m all in. NOT!
Well, it sure has affected the democrats’ mental health.
Everything is affected by climate change.
To.listen to these extremists, everything is caused or worsened by global warming.
And women and children and minorities are always hardest hit. It becomes a parody after a while.
Climate change, at risk chillun , blah, blah, blah
Logical response: Bang bang on the head.
Would maybe help.
It’s mid April and I’m tired of being cold. Someone please send me some global warming. Quick!
Trust us. We know better
They’re pulling these results out of a hat. Pretty soon they’ll say ‘Global Warming is Causing 7 and 1/8!’
And children of color and alternative genders are disproportionately greater victims of those disproportionately the victims of climate change.
Another article at this Yale site:
“A warmer climate could make your dog sick”
Seems to be a prediction not a fact.
If you take away government funding, “climate change” or whatever they’re calling it this week, would disappear and so would the several articles daily about it.
Notice how they are always “for the children” except when the children have not yet been born?
longer growing seasons are bad ?
Need "Women" in there to hit for the cycle. Still, 3 for 4 with a HR, isn't bad for a non-NY Times article.
The only solution is to throw tax dollars at it.
There. I fixed it.
