One America News’ Pearson Sharp visited the war-torn town of Douma outside the capital of Damascus, looking for evidence of a chemical attack. However, residents there deny the claims of an attack, and say it was staged to help the rebels escape.

The Iranians with their Hezbollah need to be pushed out of the area, but I think Russia just wants access to a port. Everywhere we have overthrown a ME dictator the Muslims start killing the Christians.

Yes, a lot of reasons to doubt the claims. Someone somewhere is feeding Trump lies.

Poor Donald Trump just isn't smart as you and can't see through the conspiracy...

R.T. is reporting Israel Jets overhead.

“Syrian air defenses respond to missiles over Homs province – state media”

Syrian air defense systems have been activated in response to a missile attack apparently targeting Shayrat Airbase in Homs province, state media SANA reports.

According to a SANA reporter, the Syrian air defenses managed to intercept some of the projectiles.

While it remains unclear who launched the attack, the reported strike comes just days after Washington, London and Paris carried out a coordinated strike in Syria in the early hours of Saturday morning. It also comes roughly a week after two Israeli F-15 fighters targeted another Syria’s airbase in Homs province, Tiyas (also known as T-4 Airbase).

“the intelligence agencies used the time from Trump’s first talking about a strike to when it actually happened to listen in on intercepted communications of all parties as they all withdrew from the region.”

very interesting article.

Trump using public tweets to preciptate communications and scurrying around so we could listen in and watch reminds me of the WWII ruse used to identify Midway as the Japanese attack target by sending a false message in clear text about a (non-existent) fresh water shortage on Midway because of malfunctioning evaporators, which the Japanese dutifully intercepted and sent back in their unknowingly compromised cryptographic code, thereby allowing us to identify Midway with certainty as their target ...

“6I’ve been called a “Putinista”. I don’t have access to the intelligence that our leaders have, but it doesn’t make sense to me that Assad would do that a few days after Trump indicated he wanted to get out of Syria as soon as possible.”

On all these kinds of things there are back channel talks going on. My worst fear is that Trump is trying to demonstrate toughness against Russia to blunt accusations of collusion. I hope he and ,Putin have some kind of understanding.

"I can trust is the Kurds, because their singular agenda is about their existential survival..."

The arguments going on in this thread about who to trust, our crooked govt or various groups/reporters on the ground in Syria, is kinda funny at times. Especially the blind trust in our govt - after we all spent the last year or two whining about how corrupt it has become - it's still mostly the same people as when Obama was president. Some Trump loyalists here act as if he/Mattis were there in person.

Anyway, your point about the Kurds is valid. Even more so, ask the Christians there, whose continued existence there after 2000 years is not assured if rebels win. The Orthodox Christians official statement is that the US and allies totally f'd up and are wrong to do what we did.

So, the only two groups I care about there are NOT falling in line with the Trump-can't-possibly-make-a-mistake crowd.

Regardless, candidate Trump also does not approve of what president Trump is doing - AT ALL!

And whoever people choose to believe about this one incident, nobody is going to win the war throwing around the same chemicals I use to clean my pool. Many, many more times the number of chlorine victims (if any this time) are killed by real weapons - which, of course, also ALL use chemicals to deliver fire and lead straight through both people and buildings.

What's the point of a red line anyway? Do we care about numbers of people killed or types of people killed? Or do we just care that a few might be killed by household chems? It's time to get more specific about WMD. Sure nukes and large-scale sarin (not easy) would be a red line type thing. Not chlorine.

As ex-Army myself, I don't see anything to be proud about. It was a simply a training / practice exercise, this was not a military victory - despite Trump's impression of George "mission accomplished" Bush.

Get the hell out, we are not going to stop Isaiah's prophecy in the long run!

Is OAN worth buying on a monthly basis? This is the first I’ve heard of the service.

After all, Trump will have to release the evidence at Assad’s International Criminal Court trial.

We're not fighting a war with Russia to overthrow Assad. Nor should we.

Of course, it makes sense. Chemical weapons minimize damage to structures and result in less causalities for Assad's forces.

This also brought out usual war-monger types that slither up through the floorboards (chickenhawks, Military Industrialists, globalists, neocons) at the idea of more troops and treasure wasted the Mideast.

What good did the bombing do all those types? Trump isn't going to fight a war to overthrow Assad with Russia. There is no chance of the rebels overthrowing Assad with Russia protecting him.

Wars are always planned against multiple countries all the time and always have been. For example there was an operational plan for Great Britain I think that was on the books through the 1930s - War Plan Red.

Why do people think a reporter without experience in the manufacture and storage of WMD can be relied on?

Yes unfortunately, whether Assad or the vast majority of the Syrian opposition fighters (not 100% of the Syrian opposition; yes, there are “moderates” but they have never had a majority - in numbers - or a majority military role among the “Syrian opposition”), the west does not have much of a horse in THAT race. As I said, for me, as for the Kurds, it’s a different “war”, and a different history and I believe, for the west, it deserves a different response.

who lined up the people to be interviewed?

I saw the OAN report in question and the short answer is no one. The reporter made it very clear that they were never approached by any one. They reporter and his support team picked out neighborhood people at random, as well as speaking with a number of medical care workers. Not one person said they were aware of any chemical attack, excepting the doctors, who made it clear that it was a staged propaganda false flag. They stated not one of the supposed attack victims presented actual symptoms of chemical exposure. The people near the city square where the attack was said to have occurred stated it was a hoax designed by the terrorists (rebels), who were being routed, in order to get Assad's forces off their backs so they could escape.

The video footage also showed piles and piles of weapons and explosives the rebels were forced to abandon, including a mortar factory with tens of thousands of mortars-in-production. The townspeople were all very greatful to the government for driving the jihadis away.
