Starbucks coffee shop managers will have trainings for combating "unconscious bias," its CEO said Monday, after police arrested two black men at a Philadelphia branch of the chain.
"I'll say the circumstances surrounding the incident and the outcome at our store on Thursday were reprehensible," Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson told ABC News on Monday.
Johnson added that the incident called for "more training that we're going to do with our store managers, not only around the guidelines but training around unconscious bias."
Witnesses posted a video to Twitter on Thursday of two black men escorted out of a Philadelphia Starbucks in handcuffs.
The police were called because these men hadnt ordered anything. They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing," according to Melissa DePino, who posted the video.
Controversy quickly arose as people accused Starbucks of racial discrimination and #BoycottStarbucks started trending on Twitter.
Starbucks declined to press trespassing charges, and its CEO issued an apology on Saturday. "Starbucks stands firmly against discrimination or racial profiling," the CEO said in a statement. "I hope to meet personally with the two men who were arrested to offer a face-to-face apology."

Off to the reeducation camps! This will soon be followed by the liberal's killing fields.
‘unconscious bias training’ means you can sleep in starbucks all day long now...lol
What’s the point? It’s not going to improve the taste of their coffee.
And what about the smell of the homeless, or the peeing on the floor? Still ok?
I guess the Philly store manager’s white privilege didn’t get him much except his walking papers. Meanwhile, black privilege got those two “business men” national hero status among anyone with a lunatic left agenda. I’d like to see a video of the whole incident. I would bet my mortgage that we haven’t been told something.
Desired result:
“Do you see those two guys who’ve been sitting at that table for the last 2 hours and haven’t ordered anything?”
“Are they black?”
“Yes”.
“Nope”.
Stories like this are why social media is SOOO destructive.
A 30-second clip doesn’t show anything, except the two two black men being led away, and what sounds like someone commenting “they didn’t do anything” and that’s all the evidence we have.
In that sense, a 19th century newspaper article reporting such a case like this would be far more comprehensive, thorough, and logically written than this social media garbage, which is how many people today connect with their world, and who treat as “news” because its supplied by “technology.”
The time....were they there 10 minutes? Half an hour? Hour?
Yes, it’s coffee of color.
It’s not unconscious. Philadelphia is 43% black and has about 20 Starbucks locations. Detroit is 82% black and has only five locations.
It’s kind of fun to make accusations without any real big picture data isn’t it?
Morons dead ahead...
Sometimes I wish I was black so I could break law with impunity and then scream discrimination.
I don’t know why anyone would want to work for Starbucks. Seriously. You have to ask patrons about having a “racial conversation” and now you have to go to bias class. It sounds like torture. All for what? $10 or $15 per hour?
All “Kevins” are weenies! But I guess if you want to have a policy that when Black deadbeats show up to take seats in you place of business, but don’t buy anything, you can make “a special policy” that lets them steal from you1
How about training to make coffee that doesn’t taste like asphalt driveway sealant?
Seattle’s best is owned by Starbuck’s.

The clip I saw said the two guys were there waiting to start a meeting but were not eating or drinking any Starbucks’ wares. They should leave. I don’t know of any food establishment where people can just sashay in from the street, sit down, chit-chat, and not buy anything.
What a sense of entitlement these guys must have.
My bias against their bitter coffee and proggie politics is quite conscious.
Pathetic. Starbucks used to hassle customers about waycism; ergo, this episode is pure schadenfrudge.
