Now N.J. Democrats want to go after the NRA and gun-friendly states

Democratic lawmakers want to take the state's tight gun control laws and expand them outside of New Jersey's borders.

There's new legislation that would ban state-sponsored travel to any states that don't require their residents to obtain a permits before they purchase a firearm.

The goal is to send a message to the National Rifle Association, said State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, the bill's sponsor.

"Fighting the NRA on the basis logic and rational thinking has not worked," Weinberg, D-Bergen, said. "So I think the thing that might work is fighting them with their pocketbook."

I hate my state. I can’t wait to escape. Most people in government and voters are clinically insane. I hardly recognize parts of this country anymore.

“People who think traffic circles are a good idea.”

They built one of those stupid things in a town about 20 miles from here. Nobody could figure out it’s purpose or how it works.

15 years later they tore it out.

So she wants to destroy the NRA by not funding New Joisey state employees’ trips to free states? I see. Exactly how does this harm the NRA? For that matter, how does this harm anyone?

Morons.

Any gun owner driving through NJ had better search their car from top to bottom and make sure they do not have a stray cartridge laying around

NJ control laws are draconian.

I won’t travel to NJ if I can help it.

I have been there for work but never for personal reasons.

So neighboring Pennsylvania would be off limits.

With the divisions being the same in all likelihood.

The outcome would be different this time though. 8>)

Just how many states require a “permit” before purchasing a firearm? Maybe 15? So NJ will be boycotting the majority of the country?

Just happened to think, we would also get to test out their theory if the scary AR-15, with 30 round clips, is a bad hunting tool in the process. 8>)

Excellent. Keep Tony and the gang out of my state. We don’t want your corrupt shenanigans in NH, we have our own dim bulb democrats, and voter fraud from Massholes.

The northwest corner is still nice.
We could see it from mountain on the PA of the Delaware Water Gap.
I wouldn’t go there on purpose because of their draconian gun laws, but accidently got in the wrong lane and was forced to cross the bridge into NJ.
I got out of there at the first exit.
I might have been arrested and jailed for years, there’s bound to be a spent casing somewhere in my truck.

Sadly, Maryland requires a permit to buy a regulated firearm, so I will still have to put up with the presence of New Jersey’s government nitwits.

I still remember a SNL skit from years ago in which (I think) it was Joe Piscopo as a brain dead New Jersey resident suffering from all the pollution.

NJ hated that skit. Must have hit close to home for them.

Even though it will never happen, because it doesn’t fit their agenda, it sure would be nice to survey gun owners to see if they are (all things else being equal):
A: More likely to move to a gun-grabbing state
B: Less likely to move to a gun-grabbing state
C: Will avoid a gun-grabbing state like the plague

Then ask non-owners of guns similar questions:
D: More likely to move to a gun-rights state
E: Less likely to move to a gun-rights state
F: Will avoid a gun-rights state like the plague

Obviously, the answers to the first case will be B and C, gun owners will not want to move to a state that won’t permit them to keep their guns (or make it really difficult and risky).

Where it gets interesting is with the non-owners. If they’re given an offer of a well-paying job in, say, Texas, but have lived in New Jersey their whole lives (obviously without guns)...would they balk at Texas because their neighbors might (actually, probably do) have guns? I think the answer is that they wouldn’t care...they’d take the job.

So then the conclusion - how much is it costing gun-grabbing states when a SIGNIFICANT PORTION of the population, maybe 40% of the adults, will do their best to NOT move there?

We’ll likely never know as the media wants us to believe their is no downside to states grabbing guns...but the exodus from California and the Northeast is definitely real.
