The Marine who became immortalized by playing a brutal drill sergeant in Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket” has died.
“It is with deep sadness that I regret to inform you all that R. Lee Ermey (“The Gunny”) passed away this morning from complications of pneumonia,” his manager Bill Rogers said in a statement posted to Mr. Ermey’s official Twitter account.

I am watching “Murder in the 1st” right now in memorandum. Based on a true story about Alcatraz. He plays a judge and gives a solid Ermey. RIP GSUSMC.
Belay that, probably saw a pic of his platoon after he was a DI. IMDB says he was in from 1961 to 1971, which makes more sense considering our ages.
I always watched everything he did on TV. One of the most entertaining hard-chargers ever.

Ermey addressed our Air Base in 2004. His speech sounded like a walking campaign for W. He went off on Hillary, CNN, Fonda and especially Barbara Streisand. He said the only ones who don't mind oral sex from Streisand are the ones who don't mind a woodpecker pounding your lower abdomen.

He actually spent two nights in the base RV lot in a cab over camper. HE was on his way to MT Shasta to hunt with his brother after shooting an episode of mail call at our base.
